An Open Letter to Rick Santorum supporters – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

The time has come for hard decisions and now each of you needs to make that hard decision.

I understand why you like Santorum.   He’s a decent guy.  What he did in Iowa was nothing short of incredible.  Unfortunately for him the game is now over.

Right now, Rick Santorum is in a distant fourth place.  He will not be able to continue after South Carolina

His race is over.

If you support Santorum, it says something about you.  It says you are conservative.  If you are a conservative, you want to see the Republican Party nominate a conservative and if you are a conservative, you agree Mitt Romney is not a conservative.  He is a liberal.

Santorum can no longer win the race.  There are a number of states where he is not even on the ballot and even some states where he is on the ballot but has no slate of delegates.    In other words, no matter what, he cannot win.

By staying in the race, all Rick Santorum does at this point is to divide the conservative vote.   This has been the Mitt Romney strategy all along.  See the conservative vote divided and shattered so that by the time conservatives can unite behind one candidate, it is too late.

The question each and every Santorum supporter has to ask themselves today is, if I vote for Rick Santorum in South Carolina, what will that vote mean?

The painful answer to that question is, all it will mean is a greater chance that Mitt Romney will be the nominee.

Rick Santorum has run a good race.   Rick Santorum’s life in public service is not over, but he will not be President this year.  The only candidate left now, with any chance of becoming the Republican nominee are Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney is a northeastern liberal.  The Republican Party is the party of Reagan, not the party of socialism.  The Republican Party is the party of conservatism, not the party of tax, borrow and spend liberalism.   The Republican Party is the party of freedom and liberty and not the party of having the government run our lives.

If you are a conservative, you must agree that Mitt Romney is not a conservative and must be stopped from getting the Republican nomination.

The only candidate left who can stop him is Newt Gingrich.  Do not let Mitt Romney continue to divide the conservative movement just so he can become President and destroy what Ronald Reagan and our founding fathers stood for.

Join me and support Newt Gingrich for President.  Join me in voting for Newt Gingrich in the Republican Primary for President.

Join me and let’s stop a liberal from destroying the Party of Reagan.

  1. I stop pushing Rick when HE says He’s out … not before!

  2. Steve says:

Judson Phillips is and has been supporting only one candidate. That is Newt Gingrich. Gingrich has been anything, but conservative. He supported the carbon tax with Pelosi. He stold 1.6 million dollars from us when he was lobbying for the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Phillips is not a true Tea Party Representative. He supports the good ole boys and insiders in Washington because they pay him to do so. In the past Phillips who is a lawyer, has filed bankruptcy and has several tax leins filed against him. It discust me to know that Judson Phillips claims to have the same character and values as real Tea Party Members.

    • gds44 says:

Is discust a real word? NO. Anyway your arguments about J. Phillips are irrelevant. His past financial problems and the fact he is a lawyer have no bearing whatsoever on his belief in conservative values. Newt is the only current candidate who stands a chance at beating the mitt and then obozo. If you are a true conservative you should know that the real fight is about getting obozo and his henchman OUT!
And yes, spelling is important! Misspelling simple English words makes you look like an illiterate hack.

I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award, but I wish you to know that I have changed the rules somewhat. I have listed the standard rules but included the fact that I do not feel anyone is obliged to follow them. I hope that you will accept this award even if you feel that you can not pass it on. This is an award because I appreciate you and do not feel that you are obliged to do anything.

  7. No, thank you. Newt has to much baggage, and I’m not talking about his marriages! I have left the FaceBook TEA Party Nation page over your promotion of progressive Newt Gingrich. The TEA Party does not stand for conservative values. It has become a cult of personality.

  8. to much = too much

  9. Unfortunately, largely due to my gyd job, I missed most of the debates; indeed I had to learn from my fellow bloggers (while sifting through the facts I AM aware of) how things have shaped up.
For those of us who take Scripture as the bottom line, at some point, our beloved country must lose its world leadership. You cannot have a free country, and a one world government!
A bitter reality; however, part of Matthew’s referral to “sorrows” (interpreted as a womans birth pains) have become more pronounced, especially in the last two decades.

I am painfully aware of Gingrich’s shortcomings, and agree that I considered him one of the “old boys club”. He ALSO resigned from office so there would be no conflict with his subsequent employment. He has not forgotten History; and remains capable of burying Obama in any debate.
So while far from perfect, unless Santorum pulls the proverbial “rabbit out of his hat”, full support needs to go to Gingrich for the reasons stated. This year will determine the future of the U.S. as we knew her. Past tense, due to how far she has strayed from His guidance. Soberly, “X”

  10. I see 7comments, I just tried to post a very carefully thought out comment, and the top says 10 comments. where is my, and the other two??

    • gds44 says:

I count 10!. You do know that WordPress counts pingbacks and my replies to comments as comments? There are 3 pingbacks listed 7 + 3 = 10

  11. Rick Wendling says:

Nope, not joining you working for Newt. I like much of his action when in the House and have great hope that his coming to christ is real. At-one-ment is a good thing for us all. However, “advising” Freddie and Fannie did not turn them away from their corruption. Other parts of his history are big government ideas, but I’m open for correction here.

Rick Santorum except for going along with the Republican powerful has been pretty much moral, Constitutional and fiscally sound in his positions.

  12. trutherator says:

The Big Money Leftist Media has told us we have three “conservative” choices: Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum. And these three are all RINOs. They might as well call them the Three Stooges, and their attacks on each other might remind one of the smacking and knocking around of the Stooges.

And they are stooges in the other sense. All three get money from TARP criminals.

We should tell Controlled Media where to stuff it and take up with the one true conservative that ALWAYS voted against EVERY tax increase, ALWAYS voted to reduce taxes, ALWAYS voted against every unconstitutional bill, against EVERY increase in the debt limit, EVERY TIME with a history of 100%.

Everybody knows Ron Paul is the genuine one. The only trouble some of us have are a couple of other supposedly “taboo” positions. I used to be nervous about the drugs thing, but then I took a look at Prohibition history (–remember that was when the nation at least realized they had to have a constitutional amendment to regulate drugs–) and its repeal, and asked: What’s worse? The drugs or the drug wars?

And what did the unconstitutional war in Vietnam get us? Resources wasted and a Communist regime that is introducing some capitalism now and inviting tourists and investment. Iraq has kicked us out and is cozying up to Iran, and Afghanistan is doing to us what it did to Russia.

Foreign aid is poison for poor countries like my wife’s native Honduras. Israeli settlers are starting to demand that their nation tell Americans where they can shove their “aid”. Without it they are unleashed. With the money they have to buy American arms and jets, without it they could build their own. And the blogger at settlersofsamaria.com says “You leave Iran to us”.
