Immigration “Reform” Bill the Worst Ever at the Worst Time Ever – Tea Party Nation

Immigration “Reform” Bill the Worst Ever at the Worst Time Ever – Tea Party Nation.

By Alan Caruba

If you liked Obamacare, you will love the proposed immigration “reform” bill which is all about the politics of the Left with no regard to the welfare of U.S. citizens by birth and naturalized citizens. Its final length remains unknown, but it was more than 1,500 pages by late April. The Senate takes up the bill this week.

The fact that Congress is revisiting the immigration issue is testimony to the estimated eleven million aliens illegally here due to law enforcement failures and limitations, and the political implications of granting them and eventually their families what is essentially instant citizenship, though fretted with a variety of fines and other factors.

The immigration bill gives the finger to those waiting, often for years, to go through the naturalization process and to the millions of Americans in need of employment during the worst economic times since the Great Depression.

As Alan Blinder, a former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve, wrote in the June 11 edition of The Wall Street Journal, “Mass joblessness is a shameful waste of human resources, a source of misery to millions, and now threatens to create an underclass of long-term unemployed whose skills are atrophying and whose hopes are vanishing.”

The “gang of eight” is composed of Senators of the far Left such as Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ), along with RINOs (Republicans in name only) such as John McCain (R-McCain) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Others include Marco Rubio (R-FL) who is either going to vote for it or against it depending on what day it is. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Michael Bennett (D-CO) complete the list.

You can ignore the promises of increased enforcement of laws to protect our southern border as these laws have been ignored for years. In January, a federal judge ruled that ten Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and officers had the right to challenge the so-called Morton Memo on prosecutorial discretion and the DREAM directive on deferred action that essentially ordered agents to violate federal laws for face adverse employment actions against them. The Memo prohibited ICE agents and officers from arresting or removing, i.e. deporting, any but the most violent criminal aliens; both initiatives of the Obama administration.

As NumbersUSA pointed out in May, the U.S. Senate’s S-744 bill “would give lifetime permits to 33 million more foreign citizens to complete with Americans for scare U.S. jobs” over the next decade when the 20 million Americans are currently seeking work. “That’s like putting the entire population of Canada in line for American jobs.”

The 33 million new work visas in the decade ahead would be almost as many as all immigrants who ever entered the U.S. in its history through to today.

The Center for Immigration Studies says that S-744 “assures the continuation of poverty for the American underclass for the foreseeable future, noting that in the first quarter of this year, the “broad unemployment rate for Americans without a high school degree has reached 30% and is close to 20% for citizens with only a high school education.”

“There are now 55.4 million working-age Americans who are not working.”

NumbersUSA provides another way of looking at S-744, pointing out that is that it is comparable to “re-creating ALL of the Top 20 cities in the United States, filling them entirely with foreign citizens and giving them lifetime work permits to compete with America’s struggling workers—and in just ten years’ time.”

The bill when it was released in April had approximately 1.14 waivers or exemptions per page. The 2,409 page Obamacare bill had 0.78 waivers and exemptions. S-744 is filled with 85 mentions of “unless”, 150 uses of “except”, 18 inclusions of “exempt”, 95 mentions of “waiver”, 47 offers of “discretion”, 47 uses of “notwithstanding” and 618 uses of “may” in its original 876-pages. As noted, the bill now has some 1,500 pages. These are the work of the countless lobbyists who have influenced the bill.

In addition, the immigration “reform” bill includes two “slush funds” amounting to $150,000,000 that may be supplemented with additional taxpayer dollars for years to come. These funds would go to “public or private, non-profit organizations such as La Raza, Casa de Maryland, and the American Immigration lawyers Association! These and other organizations are devoted to helping illegal immigrants apply for legal status.

It gets worse if that is possible. The bill not only provides amnesty for illegal immigrants, but does so as well for their employers. As the Center for Immigration Studies points out, “Illegal aliens will be rewarded for breaking laws for which American citizens are routinely punished” such as the use of fraudulent Social Security cards, while imposing a $1,000 penalty that “in many cases would be waived. Then they would be issued a new Social Security number without any past bad credit or arrest records.”

The so-called immigration reform bill is the worst bill at the worst time. It is an invitation to millions more to illegally enter the United States.

Amnesty Gang Throws Law-Abiders Under the Bus – Michelle Malkin

Amnesty Gang Throws Law-Abiders Under the Bus – Michelle Malkin .

President Obama and the bipartisan Gang of Eight in Washington who want to create a “pathway to citizenship” for millions of illegal aliens have sent a message loud and clear to those who follow the rules: You’re chumps!

Have you patiently waited for months and years for the State Department and Department of Homeland Security to slog through your application? You’re chumps!

Have you paid thousands of dollars in travel, legal and medical fees to abide by the thicket of entry, employment, health and processing regulations? You’re chumps!

Have you studied for your naturalization test, taken the oath of allegiance to heart, embraced our time-tested principle of the rule of law, and demonstrated that you will be a financially independent, productive citizen? You’re chumps!

Unrepentant amnesty peddlers on both sides of the aisle admit their plan is all about votes and power. Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain continues his futile chase for the Hispanic bloc. Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez is openly salivating at the prospect of millions of new illegal aliens — future Democratic Party dependents of the Nanny State — who could be eligible for Obamacare and a plethora of other government benefits despite clear prohibitions against them.

These cynical pols insist that the rest of law-abiding Americans and law-abiding permanent residents must support Washington’s push to “do something” because “11 million people are living in the shadows.”

To which I say: So? There are 23 million Americans out of work. Why aren’t they Washington’s top priority anymore? Didn’t both parties once pledge that j-o-b-s for unemployed and underemployed Americans was Job No. 1? Why is the very first major legislative push of 2013 another mass amnesty/voter drive/entitlement expansion?

If Washington is really concerned about people “living in the shadows,” how about prioritizing the jaw-dropping backlog of 500,000-plus fugitive deportee cases. These are more than a half-million illegal aliens who have been apprehended, who had their day in immigration court, who have been ordered to leave the country, and who were then released and absconded into the ether. Poof!

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, pols pretended to get serious about fixing the broken deportation system and enacted absconder apprehension initiatives to track down these national security risks. But over the past dozen years, only 100,000 out of 600,000-plus fugitive illegal aliens targeted by the program have been found. Why isn’t the search and removal of these repeat offenders more important than giving “11 million people living in the shadows” a “pathway to citizenship”?

Question: If border security and immigration enforcement are truly a priority to our elected officials, why must these two basic government responsibilities be tethered to benefits for line-jumping illegal aliens? See whether any politician can answer without sputtering about “11 million people living in the shadows” or invoking the over-worn race card.

(By the way, we all know that moldy “11 million” statistic can’t be right. Open borders groups have cited it for nearly 15 years as amnesty measure after amnesty measure attracted new generations of illegal aliens to the country.)

You know who else deserves more attention and compassion than “11 million people living in the shadows”? The 4.6 million individuals around the world who legally applied for sponsored green cards and followed the established legal immigration process. They’ve been shunted aside while the Obama administration ushers illegal alien “DREAM” waiver winners to the front of the line.

As Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies points out: “It is clear that there is no way the roughly one million or more potential Dreamers can be accommodated by (the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service) without noticeably slowing down the processing of legal immigrants (emphasis added). The agency already processes six million applications a year without the amnesty add-ons.

There have been nearly a dozen major amnesty laws, affecting at least five million illegal aliens, passed since the Reagan 1986 amnesty. These beneficiaries and their families have crowded out legal immigrants and increased their application waiting times in untold ways. GOP Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas asked the Obama administration last summer to disclose data on how much the DREAM waiver amnesty alone has affected adjudication/processing times for everyone else. The White House has failed to answer the request.

Want a reality check? Not one of the past federal amnesties was associated with a decline in illegal immigration. Instead, the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. has tripled since 1986. The total effect of the amnesties was even larger because relatives later joined amnesty recipients, and this number was multiplied by an unknown number of children born to amnesty recipients who then acquired automatic U.S. citizenship.

Hopelessly naive (or stubbornly self-deluded) freshman GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida insists that any new recipients of the Gang of Eight’s Grand Pander scheme will have to “go to the back of the line and wait behind everybody who applied before them, the right way.” Rubio emphasizes to conservative talk show hosts that there will be background checks and rigorous vetting.

But as I’ve reported for the past two decades, the background check process has been corrupted under both Democratic and Republican administrations. In the 1990s, the Clinton administration turned immigration policy into a massive Democratic voter recruitment machine through the Citizenship USA program. Naturalization officers simply abandoned background checks wholesale. In 2003, an INS center in Laguna Niguel solved the massive backlog problem by putting tens of thousands of applications through a shredder. And in 2006, I exposed how some high-immigrant regions rewarded adjudication officers with bonuses for rubber-stamping as many applications as possible without regard to security.

You want “comprehensive immigration reform”? Start with reliable adjudications, fully cleared backlogs, consistent interior enforcement, working background checks for the existing caseload, and efficient and effective deportation policies that punish law-breakers and do right by law-abiders.

And please don’t pretend that piling millions of new illegal aliens onto an already overwhelmed system is going to fix a darned thing. Chumps.

Destroying the meme – Tea Party Nation

Destroying the meme – Tea Party Nation.

Immediately after the election results became official Tuesday night, the left launched into a narrative about the election.

As with almost every narrative the left floats out there, it is a false narrative.

Unfortunately, we must fight this immediately or it will become the accepted narrative and will cause extraordinary damage to the conservative movement.

What is this shocking lie the left is spreading and what must we do?

The lie is simple.

The lie is the American people rejected conservatism in general and the Tea Party in particular on Tuesday.

This is the big lie.  For starters Mitt Romney was not a conservative.  Contrary to that idiotic remark he made during the primaries about being “severely conservative”, he was nether severe nor was he conservative.  He was a safe, moderate, candidate.

Mitt Romney never even mentioned the Tea Party during his campaign.  He specifically made it a point of campaigning without Tea Party support during the primary and the general election.  He made it a point of adopting positions that were not Tea Party positions.

Mitt Romney lost for two reasons and neither of them had anything to do with conservatism.  First, he was a lousy candidate.  He was just another northeastern moderate that the establishment wanted, but not the conservatives who make up the boots on the ground for the GOP.

Romney had nothing about him that excited anyone.  Most of the people who were supporting Romney were never Romney voters.  They were OMG voters.  OMG: Obama Must Go.  They were not voting for Romney.  They were voting against Obama.

One of the truisms of politics is, if the electorate is voting against the other guy instead of voting for you, you have a real problem.   At the end of the day, a lot of groups went out there and decided if they were going to vote for someone, they would vote for Obama.

Word is now coming out about how badly managed the Romney campaign was.  Despite Romney’s vaunted reputation as a fixer and a businessman, he could not run his own campaign.  The get out the vote effort was a joke.  At the end of the night, Romney tallied fewer votes than John McCain did four years ago.

A number of well-known conservatives went down to defeat on Tuesday night.  Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock were defeated.  Their defeat was not due to a repudiation of conservatism, but instead was due to two guys who did not handle gotcha questions well.    The liberal media screamed about Mourdock’s stand on abortion and how he would drag women back to the dark ages, when his opponent has the exact same beliefs on abortion.

Joe Walsh lost because he was redistricted from being in a nominally Republican District to a Democrat district.

And then there is Allen West.  West initially won, then a Democrat election official “rechecked” ballots and suddenly West went from a 2000 vote lead to a 4000 vote deficit.  Now, Allen West has a narrow lead.   Amazingly enough, in some of these precincts, they had over 100% voter participation.   In Port St. Lucie, amid many allegations of vote fraud and tampering, 141% of the registered voters cast ballots.

That’s right.  141% of registered voters cast ballots.  As the recount is proceeding, Democrat officials are not allowing Republican watchers and neutral observers to see the process, leading many people to believe they are trying to steal the election.

The narrative being pushed not only by the left but also by the establishment of the GOP is that the conservatives are the ones who are responsible for the defeat.  The opposite is true.  The Republican establishment that gave us Mitt Romney and so incompetently ran the national campaign for President and for the Senate is responsible for this defeat.

We must make certain everyone knows this and they do not forget it.

Newt is right, again! – Tea Party Nation.

What can you say about Newt Gingrich?   When he speaks, he is almost always right.

Now he is speaking out on behalf of Congressman Michele Bachmann

Since first asking U.S. intelligence and security agencies to look into possible ties between Huma Abedin and the Muslim Brotherhood, the personal attacks on Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) have been relentless. First from Senator John McCain (R-AZ), and then from Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN). Bachmann quickly indicated he too should be under investigation along with Abedin.

In the middle of this spat, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has emerged in Bachmann’s defense and is literally striking down the arguments against her in broad daylight.

For example, whereas McCain had described Bachmann’s question about Abedin as an “attack,” Gingrich made it clear that it wasn’t an attack, nor was it an “allegation,” rather it was simply a “question.” And as Gingrich pointed out, “the question ought to be asked across the board. What’s the role of the Muslim Brotherhood, what are its various networks and to what degree does it now influence the United States?”

It is a legitimate question.  The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization that seeks to impose an Islamic state world wide, with Sharia law.

If you like Iran, you will love what the Muslim Brotherhood has in mind.  They freely admit their highest goal is “Jihad” and to “die in the way of Allah.”  In other words they want to die in Jihad.  In plain English, they want to conquer, kill and subjugate the infidels.  That is you and me for anyone who misses the finer point.

It is not shocking that the Party of Treason is attacking Michele Bachmann.  They attack anyone who loves this nation and believes in patriotic values.  What is very disturbing is Republicans are turning on her.

Perhaps it is not shocking that John Boehner has turned on Michele Bachmann.  Boehner acts like he takes his orders from Obama, not the people who put him in the speaker’s chair.

Michele Bachmann has been a courageous voice in the Congress.  She has stood for America and American values, even when it has been hard to do.

Where the hell is the Republican establishment?  They are putting John Boehner’s freshly laundered white flag of surrender into the breeze to see which way it is blowing.

Is it asking John Boehner and the rest of the Republican leadership too much to grow a pair?

Michele Bachmann, contrary to what the drive by media is saying, has not accused anyone of anything.  She has simply raised some important questions.

 Those questions should be answered.

If those questions were raised about the influence of communist China or North Korea or any other group, there would be no argument.  There should be none here either.

Newt said Michele Bachmann was asking questions not making accusations.

 Once again, Newt is right.

Mr. Obama release your records – Tea Party Nation

Mr. Obama release your records – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

The Obama campaign and the Party of Treason continue to demand Mitt Romney release his tax records so they can pull them apart and continue to distort facts and lie about Romney.

Obama has released almost none of his records.  There is one record that everyone should be demanding that Obama release.   What is it and why is it so important?

There are a lot of records that Americans should want to see from Barack Obama.  To start with, there are his records from Occidental College so that the allegation that Obama attended that school on a scholarship reserved for foreign students can be resolved.   Another record that Americans should be demanding Obama release are his records from Columbia and Harvard.

How does someone who is a self-admitted poor student, get into two of the most prestigious schools in America?  Obama was admitted to Harvard law.  Generally you need to have almost a perfect 4.0 to even have a shot at Harvard.  Anyone want to bet Obama’s GPA was nowhere near that?

So how did he get in?

The important records that everyone should demand Obama release are his medical records.  George Bush, John McCain, even John Kerry and Bill Clinton released voluminous medical records.

What did Obama release in 2008?  It was a one page statement from a doctor saying he was in good physical condition.

 That was it.

 Why is this so important?

Obama by his own admission was a very heavy marijuana user in his youth.  He has also admitted to using cocaine, though he denies using drugs such as heroin.  He also says he was a significant drinker.

 Why is this important?

Because these are all symptoms of addiction.

A man named Larry Sinclair claims that in 1999 he and Barack Obama had sex and then smoked crack cocaine.  This is 1999, nine years before Obama would run for President.

Crack cocaine is very addictive.   It is very destructive.  Addiction specialist will tell you that a crack addiction is very tough to break.

Is Obama an addict?  Was he an addict in the past?

These are all legitimate questions to ask about a man who has his hands on the nuclear trigger.

Why is Obama hiding these records and why isn’t the drive by media asking these questions.   Why aren’t Republicans demanding the answers to these questions, instead of telling Mitt Romney he needs to play into Obama’s hands by releasing more tax returns?

While Obama promised his administration would be the most transparent in history; that was simply another Obama lie.

Every time Obama demands that Mitt Romney release more tax returns, the Romney campaign needs to turn around and ask when Obama is going to release his medical records, his college records and his attorney discipline records.

The Romney campaign may have finally learned that they are not going to get anywhere by playing nice.  They have an opponent that wants to go down into the gutter for a fight and believes in winning at all costs.

Romney may have finally learned not to play their game.

 Let’s hope so.

Meanwhile, every Republican should quit telling Mitt Romney to release more records, giving Obama more ammunition to lie about him and start demanding that Obama release his records.

Fast and Furious Is Not a D.C. Law Firm – Ann Coulter –

Fast and Furious Is Not a D.C. Law Firm – Ann Coulter –

Most Americans don’t care about whether Attorney General Eric Holder is hiding Fast and Furious documents because they don’t understand the story.

Until someone can tell us otherwise, there is only one explanation for why President Obama’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gave thousands of guns to Mexican drug dealers: It put guns in their hands to strengthen liberals’ argument for gun control.

Precisely because this is such a jaw-dropping accusation — criminality at the highest level of government to score a political point — Republicans refuse to make it.

But the problem with Republican rectitude in discussing this scandal is that as soon as they start talking about subpoenas and dates and documents, TV channels change across America. They’re never going to get answers unless they first explain to the American people why it matters.

Liberals have been dying to reinstate the so-called “assault weapons” ban, but they haven’t been able to for political reasons. (For more information on this, see the 1994 congressional elections.)

A typically idiotic Democratic scheme, the “assault weapons” ban prohibited the sale of semiautomatics that are operationally indistinguishable from deer rifles, but which looked scary to liberal women.

First, the Democrats tried lying about how American guns were being found in the hands of Mexican drug dealers — while demanding a renewal of the assault weapons ban.

Obama had barely unpacked at the White House, when he and high-level administration officials and Senate Democrats — Holder, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Chuck Schumer — started railing about how our lax gun control laws were putting guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

In 2010, even Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon demanded that the U.S. reinstate the assault weapons ban — on the grounds that Mexican drug violence was directly linked to the law’s repeal.

The claim was preposterous for many reasons, including the fact that the type and quantity of armaments being used by Mexican drug cartels can be obtained only from places such as North Korea, China, Russia, Venezuela and Guatemala.

The notion that most guns used by Mexican drug gangs came from the U.S. was a lie — exposed on about 1 million gun blogs and on Fox News.

So, then the Obama administration did exactly what Democrats had been falsely accusing American gun sellers of doing: They put American guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

The only explanation for Fast and Furious is that it was a program to prop up a losing gun control argument. The Waco and Ruby Ridge raids were monstrous, but they at least made sense as simple screw-ups: (1) ATF’s budget was about to be cut and it needed some showy raids; and (2) law enforcement officials detest private gun ownership on principle.

There is no conceivable law enforcement objective to giving Mexican drug dealers thousands of untrackable guns. It’s not even fun for the agents, like an armed raid on a private home. If there’s some other explanation, Holder isn’t telling.

Republicans refuse to state this clearly because they can’t prove it. Instead, they just keep chattering about the documents that haven’t been turned over and subpoenas that haven’t been answered.

Did Democrats wait for a smoking gun to accuse Karl Rove of treason for revealing Valerie Plame‘s identity as a CIA agent? It turned out Rove didn’t reveal it, and it wouldn’t have been a crime if he had.

Did they wait for proof to accuse Sen. John McCain of committing adultery? They had none, and yet that story ran on the front page of The New York Times.

Did they have any evidence before accusing the entire Republican House leadership of complicity in Mark Foley’s creepy emails to young male interns? See if you can guess. Take all the time you need. Feel free to call one of your “lifelines” if necessary.

Liberals just make wild-eyed accusations and demand Republicans prove themselves innocent. (Say, whatever happened to Karl Rove’s trial for treason for outing Valerie Plame? Can somebody call Lawrence O’Donnell and check on that?)

If conservatives were our only source of information about 9/11, no one would care about that, either. Somehow they’d make it about Osama bin Laden not answering a subpoena.

This isn’t just another government program gone bad — a $300 ashtray, stimulus money fraud, Solyndra or Van Jones.

It isn’t just a story about some government official refusing to testify.

It isn’t even a story about an American dying as a result of a government program, as outrageous as that is. Yes, Brian Terry died at the hands of a Mexican using a Holder-provided American gun. Pat Tillman died. Ron Brown died. People sometimes die as a result of government screw-ups. Fast and Furious is worse.

Innocent people dying was the objective of Fast and Furious, not collateral damage.

It would be as if the Bush administration had implemented a covert operation to dump a dangerous abortifacient in Planned Parenthood clinics, resulting in hundreds of women dying — just to give pro-lifers an argument about how dangerous abortion clinics are.

That’s what Fast and Furious is about.

Punting against America. – Tea Party Nation

Punting against America. – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

Just in case you missed it, America is a nation that was designed by geniuses and is now run by idiots.   We can also add that our nation is run by gutless, self-centered cowards too.

What is going on that requires stating the obvious?

The gutless cowards we call the Senate and Congress are now working a plan to punt the so-called sequestration for another year.

First, the sequestration was a horrible idea.  John Boehner, instead of standing and fighting, he raised his freshly laundered white flag of surrender and gave us sequestration.

Sequestration is the process of automatic budget cuts if the Congress could not agree on a specified amount of budget cuts.

Barack Obama and the Party of Treason loved sequestration because half the cuts if sequestration were invoked would come from the Department of Defense and one of Obama’s long standing goals has to destroy America as a military superpower.

The budget is out of control.  While members of Congress are now seriously looking at ways to avoid the catastrophic defense budget cuts, they are not serious about cutting spending.

We have hundreds of billions of dollars in waste in the Federal Budget.  When is the government going to cut the waste?  We have hundreds of billions of dollars in spending that exists only to help get politicians reelected.  When is that going to be cut?

Oh wait, according to the politicians in Washington think that is more important than minor details such as defending the nation.

Now the pressure is building in congress, including among Republicans for new “revenues” for the government.

So here is the thirty-five cent question.  Are the politicians in Washington going to listen before or after we have an economic collapse?   My money is on after the collapse because so many of these politicians do not even have a room temperature IQ.  Most of them don’t have an IQ that could thaw ice.

John McCain and Lindsay Graham are leading the charge on punting sequestration.

One thing is certain.  You know when Graham and McCain get together on something, anything, you can oppose it just on general principles and probably be right.

Graham and McCain are believers in the P.T. Barnum School of politics, believing there is a sucker born every minute and they are all voters.   The so-called “offsets” or cuts are going to be non-existent.  They are going to be numbers made up by the Congressional Budget Office.    The CBO is the Indianapolis Colts of politics, except the Colts have a better chance of winning than the CBO has of getting anything right.

The numbers will exist on paper.   It will be the equivalent of me taking my bank statement and adding a couple of zeros to my account balance.   It might make me think I am rich, but the reality will be I am just as broke as I was before I took my pen to the bank statement.

The real danger is the pressure in Republican circles to raise taxes.

The Taxpayer Protection Pledge of Americans for Tax Reform is the standard by which Republican anti-tax beliefs are measured.  Most Republicans have signed the pledge.

Yet within Congress, a number of Republicans have turned their backs on the pledge not to raise taxes.  Even more Republicans are threatening to go squishy and raise taxes.

The problem is not revenue.   It is spending.

In a hearing in 2011, the GAO could not even identify the number of welfare programs the government had, how much money was being spent or even whether the programs were effective.

Instead of gutting defense spending, which is something the Constitution mandates, why don’t we cut wasteful government spending?

With hundreds of billions of dollars of identified government waste, why aren’t McCain and Graham out making those cuts?  The answer is, they are clueless Washington politicians.

Killing, not punting sequestration is a good idea.  Even Leon Panetta, the Secretary of Defense says the cuts in defense spending would be devastating.

We need real budget cuts.  We need to eliminate the programs that are wasteful or that have just completely failed.

Unfortunately with McCain and Graham leading the charge what we are going to end up with are phantom budget cuts along with real tax and fee increases.

In short, America is sinking faster than an Italian cruise ship and Graham and McCain simply want to order more lasagna.

Corruptocrat Eric Holder’s GOP Enablers – Michelle Malkin – Townhall Conservative Columnists

Corruptocrat Eric Holder’s GOP Enablers – Michelle Malkin – Townhall Conservative Columnists.

While calls for U.S. Attorney General Eric “Stonewall” Holder’s resignation grow and the House GOP gears up for a contempt vote next week, it’s worth remembering how we got into this mess. In two words: feckless bipartisanship.

“I like Barack Obama and want to help him if I can.” That was Utah GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch in January 2009, just weeks before the Senate voted on President Obama’s attorney general nominee, Eric Holder. Right out of the gate, upon Obama’s election in November 2008, Hatch signaled that he would greenlight the administration’s top law enforcer.

“I start with the premise that the president deserves the benefit of the doubt,” the six-term incumbent Hatch told The Hill newspaper. “I don’t think politics should be played with the attorney general.”

Utah voters, mark those words. Bending to bipartisanship for bipartisanship’s sake — and ignoring the obvious consequences — is playing politics.

And, conservatives, please remember the actions of all 19 Republican senators who ignored Holder’s abominable career as a political fixer and confirmed him. “I found Mr. Holder to be a good listener, which is an important prerequisite for any good leader,” Missouri GOP Sen. Kit Bond explained in support of the nomination. “I believe him when he says that he’s willing to take good ideas from wherever they come.”

In addition to Hatch and Bond, the other 17 Senate Republicans who helped put Holder in place at the Justice Department were: Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., Bob Bennett, R-Utah, Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., Susan Collins, R-Maine, Bob Corker, R-Tenn., Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, Judd Gregg, R-N.H., Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., Richard Lugar, R-Ind., John McCain, R-Ariz., Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, Arlen Specter, R-Pa., and George Voinovich, R-Ohio.

It’s not like these GOP enablers weren’t warned over and over about Holder’s shady judgment and questionable ethics. The 2002 House Committee on Government Reform’s report on the Clinton-era Marc Rich pardon scandal spelled out Holder’s willingness to put political ambition above the rule of law. Then-Deputy Attorney General Holder and former White House counsel Jack Quinn, who was representing the fugitive financier Rich, worked together to cut the Justice Department out of the process.

The duo ensured “that the Justice Department, especially the prosecutors of the Southern District of New York, did not have an opportunity to express an opinion on the Rich pardon before it was granted.” The report noted further that “Holder failed to inform the prosecutors under him that the Rich pardon was under consideration, despite the fact that he was aware of the pardon effort for almost two months before it was granted.”

Holder admitted that he allowed his judgment to be overridden by crony political considerations. He told GOP senators he had learned from his “mistake” and that it would make him a better attorney general. But it wasn’t just one “mistake.”

Holder pandered to leftist special interests in engineering clemency for 16 members of the violent terrorist groups Fuerzas Armadas de Liberacion Nacional (FALN) and Los Macheteros — linked by the FBI to more than 130 bombings and six murders. He gave the terrorists unprecedented access to phone calls and consultations as they negotiated their freedom. He hid behind executive privilege covers when asked by victims’ families to explain the decision process. And as a partner at Covington and Burling, the powerhouse D.C.- and N.Y.-based law firm infamous for representing Gitmo detainees, Holder’s opposition to the jihadi detention center raised bright red conflict-of-interest flags.

Is it any wonder that such a serial conniver would now be embroiled in multiple scandals involving the endangerment of national security? And that he would name old pals to run interference for him in his time of need?

To investigate his department’s bloody malfeasance in the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal, Holder appointed acting DOJ Inspector General Cynthia A. Schnedar. She worked under Holder in the 1990s and had co-filed several legal briefs with him. Schnedar is in hot water for having released secret Fast and Furious audiotapes to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Phoenix before reviewing them. The tapes somehow found their way into the hands of the local ATF office. Both are targets of congressional probes.

To investigate self-aggrandizing White House leaks on jihadi kill lists and computer viruses targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, Holder named two political appointees. One is Ronald Machen, an Obama donor, a transition team leader and a U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C., who formerly worked under Holder.

Blind Democrats are outraged at questions about the independence of Holder’s appointees. Johnny-come-lately Republicans are demanding special prosecutors and balking at Holder’s arrogance, obstructionism and wanton disregard for American security and safety. Note: Two of the loudest voices belong to Sens. McCain and Graham, who both approved Holder’s nomination.

Joseph Connor, son of FALN murder victim Frank Connor, was right. In January 2009, he spoke from pain-filled experience: “Holder clearly does not have the judgment, character or values to be attorney general.” GOP surrender-ism cost more innocent lives. For the sake of the victims, let this be a lesson learned — and not repeated again.

Grand Funk GOP – Tea Party Nation

Grand Funk GOP – Tea Party Nation.

By Alan Caruba

Grand Funk GOP - Tea Party Nation“In negotiation, ‘yes’ is the worst word. It just betrays a fear of failure and a fear of losing this deal, and it primes you to please the other side, to rush ahead, to compromise early and often to come to a deal, any deal. ‘No’ is the best word. It’s what you want to be prepared to say and to hear. ‘No’ will liberate you and protect you.”

The above is the opening paragraph of the introduction to a book by my friend, Jim Camp, “No, The Only Negotiating System You Need for Work and Home” and, for the forthcoming election, Americans or at least a majority of the voters have to say “no” to four more years of Barack Obama.

Camp, the creator of the Camp Negotiation Institute, has more than twenty years of experience and these days is coaching people from America to Brazil, China to Italy, Argentina to England, France to Russia, Sweden to Iraq; all of whom are seeking to become certified negotiators using his system.

Camp emphasizes the role of emotion in negotiations and what I am witnessing these days is a totally dispirited and depressed Republican and conservative voter community when, in fact, it should be energized by the dreadful prospect of a reelected Obama.

Regarding the conduct of negotiation Camp says, “’No’ will liberate you and protect you.”

Part of it the Grand Funk GOP that is occurring is unquestionably tied to the lengthy primary process, the fluctuations between the rising and falling fortunes of the candidates, and the horse race coverage by the mainstream media.

Camp emphasizes that “’No’ requires a solid, ironclad mission and purpose.” Can there be a single purpose greater than ridding the nation of the worst President in its history?

And isn’t every election a negotiation between the candidate and the voter?

Last week’s results of the polling by the Rasmussen organization found the following:

# 60% say that the U.S. economy is in Recession.

# 52% favor candidates who would raise taxes on the rich.

#46% say it’s possible for any American to find a job.

#46% say America’s best days are in the past.

In short, Republicans and other voters are all over the place trying to figure out what is happening and what may happen in the future. They are bouncing back and forth between emotions that are either pessimistic or unrealistic.

“Before you make a decision,” says Camp, “your emotions rage all over the place. Then when you make a decision, you set about rationalizing it.” This is a perfect description of what I hear from people trying to make up their minds about who the Republican nominee should be to lead the party.

The fear in the hearts of too many Republicans is driving them to seek the perfect candidate, something that never was and never will be. All politicians seeking the nomination arrive with all manner of baggage from their years in office. Some are conservative and some are too conservative.

After what was arguably the best President of the modern era, Ronald Reagan, Republicans failed to support George H.W. Bush, allowing him to be defeated by Bill Clinton. In 1996, they supported a lackluster Bob Dole and Clinton won again. Then George W. Bush came along and Republicans had their man in the Oval Office for eight years.

By any rational standard, a completely unknown candidate should not have defeated John McCain, but Barack Obama offered not policies, but pure emotion based on “hope and change.” In the midst of a financial crisis, it worked.

The same fear that drove the 2008 campaign is now driving the 2012 campaign, but Obama has little to campaign upon. Rationally, we know he has mired the nation in debt that threatens an economic collapse.

We know his “stimulus” program and its promise of higher employment has been a total failure. We know that millions are still unemployed. Millions are on food stamps.

We know that Obamacare is now less popular than when it was passed against much vocal opposition; the first time that has ever happened to a piece of social legislation.

So why are Republicans in such disarray, in such a great funk over the process by which we pick nominees? EMOTION.

Republicans need to ask themselves who will say “no” to Obama and “no” to the nation-crushing changes he and his administration have imposed on us. Republicans, independents, and all conservatives have to get over their funk and get into the fight to save America.

The Perfect Storm – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

There is a perfect storm forming.   If you remember the movie “The Perfect Storm”, the storm in the movies was the result of three storms coming together to form a massive storm.

Could we be seeing something like that for the Presidential election?

The answer is yes.

The Tea Party is a part of this and we must be ready.

The storm will be what happens or may happen at the Republican Convention in Tampa this August.

Everyone keeps saying the possibility of an open convention is still a remote possibility.   It is not the most likely possibility but it is a possibility that is no longer remote.

The RINOs are of course upset.  Mitt Romney is crashing and burning and the Tea Party conservatives are not simply going away, awaiting orders from RNC Central.  We are committing the ultimate sin in the eyes of the RINO establishment.  We actually want a conservative nominee.

Republicans have been going to all of the organs of the news establishment to complain and warn Romney.  If he fails in Michigan, he is finished.  Even if he does not fail in Michigan, he may still be finished.

The RINO establishment fantasizes about some RINO savior, coming out of the mist, to sweep in and rescue the establishment and give them a standard bearer for this fall.

No one should forget that those who are dreaming of the great RINO hope are the same bright lights who told us four years ago that we should all support John McCain, because he was “electable.”

After such a bad showing four years ago, the RINOs should go and hide in shame and leave the selection of the next American President to real Americans.

While the RINOs sit around dreaming of their savior, storm clouds billow on the horizon.  There is no guarantee this storm is coming.  But as with all storms, we must prepare for them.

First, if the filing deadline has not passed in your state to become a delegate, go file immediately.    Delegates to the convention will be the ones who decide who the nominee is.   We need as many conservatives as delegates as we can get.  If this becomes a brokered convention, the conservative delegates will be the ones who decide the nominee.

Second, we need to start looking at conservatives who could be the man or woman we bring out of a brokered convention as our nominee.    The RINOs are looking, trying to get Mitch Daniels, Chris Christie or Jeb Bush in the wings ready to take over.    We conservatives need to be doing the same thing.  We need to start lining someone up who can step in as our leader in a brokered convention.   That person could be Sarah Palin, Allen West, Bobby Jindal or someone else.   To quote my favorite Benjamin Franklin quote, “he who fails to plan, plans to fail.”

The possibility of an open or brokered convention is still not the most likely scenario.

Much of what is now uncertain will be decided in Michigan, Arizona and on Super Tuesday.

If Romney does poorly in Michigan the clamor for a replacement RINO will grow.   Those who have previously spoken to the drive by media on the condition of anonymity will now speak openly.

I have previously endorsed Newt Gingrich.  I remain convinced Newt is the only candidate on the GOP side who cannot only beat Obama but to use his words, will change the trajectory of America and not just manage our decline.

My personal goal is to go down to Tampa in August for the largest Tea Party rally in recent memory and celebrate the nomination of Newt and the beginning of the end for Obama.

One way or another, we need to make certain at the end of the day, whether this storm is perfect or not, we have a conservative taking on Obama in November.

The one thing we cannot do is allow the establishment to give us another John McCain style loser.
