Blog: I am Embarrassed to be an American Today.

David Coughlin

Barack Obama is not my president, not by a long shot, but unfortunately he is the president of my country. I am embarrassed to be an American today where so many people are oblivious to the damage being done to the fabric of our country and who voted for four more years of his destruction.

I cannot understand how so many people know so little about this man, and when they find out the facts about his background, choose to ignore his anti-American influences, his checkered past, his hidden records, and his lack of any accomplishment other than being elected to political office. I cannot understand how these same people see Obama’s economic policies that failed to address the underlying problems and served to stagnate and lengthen the economic recovery. I cannot understand how these same people can watch Obama’s foreign-policy tactics and not see America’s reputation and influence degrade before their eyes. It is said that there are now two Americas that are not on speaking terms. I certainly do not understand this other America.

We have finally finished the most divisive and negative presidential campaign where Obama ran away from his record and instead attacked his challenger as his only campaign strategy. Again voters elected a president with no defined agenda, other than a continuation of the failed policies of his first term. His biggest electoral advantage was the mainstream media who “came out of the closet” to openly embrace their liberal icon President. I will not stand by quietly and watch this administration do further damage to my country.

I guess it will take another four years for enough American voters to wake up to find their country in shambles and finally begin the painful process to reverse the damage done by this liberal regime. Today I am embarrassed to be an American who cannot understand my own countrymen. My job now is to begin the search for someone who can energize voters to re-embrace American exceptionalism and develop a vision and plan to retake our government back from those to seek to tear it down and replace it with some form of socialist utopia that has never worked in the past and surely will never work in the future.

Waiving Freedom – Thomas Sowell –

Waiving Freedom – Thomas Sowell –

Among the objections to ObamaCare, one that has not gotten as much attention as it should is the president’s power to waive the law for any company, union or other enterprise he chooses.

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution provides for “equal protection of the laws” for all Americans. To have a law that can cost an organization millions of dollars a year either apply or not apply, depending on the whim or political interest of the President of the United States, is to make a mockery of the rule of law.

How secure is any freedom when there is this kind of arbitrary power in the hands of one man?

What does your right of freedom of speech mean if saying something that irritates the Obama administration means that you or your business has to pay huge amounts of money and get hit with all sorts of red tape under ObamaCare that your competitor is exempted from, because your competitor either kept quiet or praised the Obama administration or donated to its reelection campaign?

Arbitrary ObamaCare waivers are bad enough by themselves. They are truly ominous as part of a more general practice of this administration to create arbitrary powers that permit them to walk roughshod over the basic rights of the American people.

The checks and balances of the Constitution have been evaded time and time again by the Obama administration, undermining the fundamental right of the people to determine the laws that govern them, through their elected representatives.

You do not have a self-governing people when huge laws are passed too fast for the public to even know what is in them.

You do not have a self-governing people when “czars” are created by Executive Orders, so that individuals wielding vast powers equal to, or greater than, the powers of Cabinet members do not have to be vetted and confirmed by the people’s elected representatives in the Senate, as Cabinet members must be.

You do not have a self-governing people when decisions to take military action are referred to the United Nations and the Arab League, but not to the Congress of the United States, elected by the American people, whose blood and treasure are squandered.

You do not have a self-governing people when a so-called “consumer protection” agency is created to be financed by the unelected officials of the Federal Reserve System, which can create its own money out of thin air, instead of being financed by appropriations voted by elected members of Congress who have to justify their priorities and trade-offs to the taxpaying public.

You do not have a self-governing people when laws passed by the Congress, signed by previous Presidents, and approved by the federal courts, can have the current President waive whatever sections he does not like, and refuse to enforce those sections, despite his oath to see that the laws are faithfully executed.

Barack Obama, for example, has refused to carry out sections of the immigration laws that he does not like, unilaterally creating de facto amnesty for those illegal immigrants he has chosen to be exempt from the law. The issue is not — repeat, NOT — the wisdom or justice of this President’s immigration policy, but the seizing of arbitrary powers not granted to any President by the Constitution of the United States.

You do not have a self-governing people if President Obama succeeds in having international treaties under United Nations auspices govern the way Americans live their lives, whether with gun control laws or other laws.

Obama’s “citizen of the world” mindset was revealed back in 2008, when he said “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that every other country is going to say okay.”

The desire to circumvent the will of the American people was revealed even more ominously when Barack Obama said to Russian President Medvedev — when he thought the microphone was off — that, after he is reelected and need never face the voters again, he can be more “flexible” with the Russians about missile defense.

There are other signs of Obama’s contempt for American Constitutional democracy, but these should be more than enough. Dare we risk how far he will go when he never has to face the voters again, and can appoint Supreme Court justices who can rubber stamp his power grabs? Will this still be America in 2016?

Obama’s Sneaky, Deadly, Costly Car Tax – Michelle Malkin –

Obama’s Sneaky, Deadly, Costly Car Tax – Michelle Malkin –

While all eyes were on the Republican National Convention in Tampa and Hurricane Isaac on the Gulf Coast, the White House was quietly jacking up the price of automobiles and putting future drivers at risk.

Yes, the same cast of fable-tellers who falsely accused GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney of murdering a steelworker’s cancer-stricken wife is now directly imposing a draconian environmental regulation that will cost untold American lives.

On Tuesday, the administration announced that it had finalized “historic” new fuel efficiency standards. (Everything’s “historic” with these narcissists, isn’t it?) President Obama took a break from his historic fundraising drives to proclaim that “(by) the middle of the next decade, our cars will get nearly 55 miles per gallon, almost double what they get today. It’ll strengthen our nation’s energy security, it’s good for middle-class families, and it will help create an economy built to last.”

Jon Carson, director of Obama’s Office of Public Engagement, took to Twitter to hype how “auto companies support the higher fuel-efficiency standards” and how the rules crafted behind closed doors will “save consumers $8,000” per vehicle. His source for these claims? The New York Times, America’s Fishwrap of Record, which has acknowledged it allows the Obama campaign to have “veto power” over reporters’ quotes from campaign officials.

And whom did the Times cite for the claim that the rules will “save consumers $8,000”? Why, the administration, of course! “The administration estimated that the new standards would save Americans $1.7 trillion in fuel costs,” the Times dutifully regurgitated, “resulting in an average savings of more than $8,000 a vehicle by 2025.”

The Obama administration touts the support of the government-bailed-out auto industry for these reckless, expensive regs. What they want you to forget is that the “negotiations” (read: bullying) with White House environmental radicals date back to former Obama green czar Carol Browner’s tenure — when she infamously told auto industry execs “to put nothing in writing, ever” regarding their secret CAFE talks.

Obama’s number-massagers cite phony-baloney cost savings that rely on developing future fuel-saving technology. Given this crony government’s abysmal track record in “investing” in new technologies (cough — Solyndra — cough), we can safely dismiss that fantasy math. What is real for consumers is the $2,000 per vehicle added cost that the new fuel standards will impose now. That figure comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

War on Middle-Class Consumers, anyone?

Beyond the White House-media lapdog echo chamber, the economic and public safety objections to these sweeping rules are long grounded and well founded.

For years, free-market analysts and government statisticians have warned of the deadly effect of increasing corporate auto fuel economy standards (CAFE). Sam Kazman at the Competitive Enterprise Institute explained a decade ago: “(T)he evidence on this issue comes from no less a body than the National Academy of Sciences, which issued a report last August finding that CAFE contributes to between 1,300 and 2,600 traffic deaths per year. Given that this program has been in effect for more than two decades, its cumulative toll is staggering.”

H. Sterling Burnett of the National Center for Policy Analysis adds that NHTSA data indicate that “322 additional deaths per year occur as a direct result of reducing just 100 pounds from already downsized small cars, with half of the deaths attributed to small car collisions with light trucks/sport utility vehicles.” USA Today further calculated that the “size and weight reductions of passenger vehicles undertaken to meet current CAFE standards had resulted in more than 46,000 deaths.”

These lethal regulations should be wrapped in yellow police “CAUTION” tape. The tradeoffs are stark and simple: CAFE fuel standards clamp down on the production of larger, more crashworthy cars. Analysts from Harvard to the Brookings Institution to the federal government itself have arrived at the same conclusion: CAFE kills. Welcome to the bloody intersection between the Obama jobs death toll and the Obama green death toll.

Romney tax returns a desperate distraction

By Ted Nugent – The Washington Times

As usual, the Democrats have nothing worthy of their own to promote, so they are going after Mitt Romney to release more of his tax records.

My advice to Mr. Romney is to tell the Democrats to pound sand.

All we should want to know about a president’s tax records or the tax records of any elected public official is whether that person has cheated on taxes or has made money through illegal means. Other than that, how much money a candidate has is no business of mine or yours.

Unlike the backgrounds of Rep. Charles B. Rangel, former Sen. Tom Daschle and Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, there is zero evidence that Mr. Romney has cheated on his taxes.

What the Democrats want to do is to play class warfare, pit rich against poor. Playing class warfare is all the proof you need to know that the Democratic Party despises successful people such as Mr. Romney.

The Democrats abhor success. They would rather Americans be beholden to Fedzilla for food stamps and other government programs than go out and become tremendously successful on their own.

The Democrats hate success because they know success ultimately breeds success. The more successful Americans are, the less power and influence the Democrats can have over them, which means the less political power the Democrats can wield. That’s not a good thing for socialists and other big-government addicts and dependents.

The “man” keeping down the people is not a successful person such as Mr. Romney, but rather the Democratic Party, which buys their votes by enslaving its supporters with government programs and checks, funded with the tax dollars that people like Mr. Romney have paid.

When it comes to taxes, let’s keep in the forefront of our collective knowledge that the vast majority of all federal income taxes are paid by just 10 percent of the wage earners, like Mr. Romney, and that nearly 50 percent of Americans don’t pay any federal income taxes.

That’s the real shocking and ugly tax statistic — not how much money Mr. Romney has made or paid to Uncle Tax Sham.

With the sizable and legal pile of money Mr. Romney is reported to have made and banked, my hope is that he has legally hid as much of it as possible from Fedzilla. I would much rather Mr. Romney have his money than surrender it to Uncle Sham, who burns through our hard-earned tax dollars with impunity.

The Internet is a treasure trove of ugly example after ugly example of Fedzilla torching our tax money. Google “wasteful government spending” if you doubt me.

Waging class warfare against successful people is all the Democrats have left. Instead of promoting success and independence, the Democrats demonize it. That’s the real story, not the charge by Democrats that Mr. Romney has failed to release his tax records.

Should Mr. Romney release his records, let’s wait and see if the president then releases all his academic records, complete health records and other documents. How about it, Mr. President?

Our worthless lapdog media won’t press the president on this, but conservative watchdog groups and other writers will continue to remind Americans that our president has been the least transparent in the history of the country.

Mr. Romney is a model of success and deserves to be applauded for his hard work, grit, risk-taking and tenacity. He made his money the old-fashioned way: He went out and earned it.

The Democrats have nothing to run on except class warfare and disdain of success, neither of which is found in the character of the true American experience.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at some of this stuff.  Barack Obama decided to do a press conference of sorts today.

 The results?  Priceless.

 From Mediate:

President Obama took a question from NBC NewsChuck Todd who asked whether he thinks that there is something hidden in Mitt Romney’s tax returns which could be potentially damaging to his candidacy.

“There is a difference between playing by the same sets of rules and doing something illegal, and in no way have we suggested the latter,” said Obama.

Obama went on to illustrate this point by saying that the returns that Romney has so far disclosed indicate that he made use of a Swiss bank account. “Well, that may be perfectly legal but I suspect that if you asked the average America, ‘do you have one?’ ‘Is that part of how you manage your tax returns?’ They would say ‘no,’” said the President.

Obama said that he thinks that, as well as other details of Romney’s personal finances, are relevant information for voters.

“I think the idea that this is somehow exceptional – that there should be a rationale or a justification for doing more than the very bare minimum – has it backwards,” Obama continued. He said that voters expect Romney to release as many returns as past candidates have, including his own father.

“The American people have assumed that, if you want to be President of the United States, that your life is an open book when it comes to things like your finances,” said Obama.

 President “Open Book” has spoken.

If the media were not in the tank for Obama, this would be funny.  Well President “Open Book”, how about opening up.

Let’s start with your birth certificate.  The real one, not the fake one that you released.  How about your college records?  All of them.  Inquiring minds want to know, since you said anyone who wants to be President should have their life as an open book.

Did you go to school as a foreign exchange student?  Your records that you have never released from Occidental and Columbia would tell us this.

How did you pay for Occidental?  How did you pay for Columbia?  How did you as a mediocre student get into Columbia and then Harvard?  And how did you pay for Harvard?    Who wrote your reference letters for Columbia and Harvard?

Obama thinks Romney should be an open book?  Real Americans think that kind of openness should apply to Obama.

Mr. Obama, show us your records!

EDITORIAL: Obama’s fuel follies – Washington Times.

‘We can’t wait’ for cheaper gas, Mr. President

Don’t look now, but gas prices are beginning to bite hard again. That’s bad news for President Obama, who, until now, might have thought he had gotten lucky when prices dropped earlier in this critical election year. As the energy issue makes the campaign trail bumpier, Mr. Obama has no one to blame but himself.

The average price of a gallon of gas at the pump has jumped to $3.70, more than 30 cents higher than just six weeks ago. This means the cost has climbed more than halfway back to its high for the year, which was $3.94 in April. Market analysts point the finger at a host of factors for the rapid escalation, including fears of conflict with Iran, summer-driving-season increases, a better-than-expected July jobs report that boosted oil futures and, most recently, a California refinery fire that could reduce West Coast gas supplies by nearly 10 percent. Some gas stations in the Los Angeles area already are selling fuel at $4.50 a gallon.

Underlying the immediate reasons for repeated price spikes over the course of Mr. Obama’s 31/2 years in office are his persistent moves to choke off fossil-fuel production while claiming to do the opposite. The president’s purported “all of the above” energy policy doesn’t apply to bountiful resources below ground. The disparity between White House word and deed shouldn’t go unnoticed.

North America is capable of energy self-sufficiency, a welcome proposition presented by U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) head Adam Sieminski in Aug. 2 testimony before a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee. EIA statistics show U.S. oil production has achieved its highest level since 1998, a fact Team Obama is proud to cite. However, most of the increase is not due to production on federal lands, but on state and private property, which is outside the president’s jurisdiction.

North Dakota’s oil boom is a prime example of American enterprise blossoming where Uncle Sam is not in charge. Tapping into the region’s Bakken formation has allowed the Rough Rider State to jump from the No. 8 to the No. 2 oil-producing state, according to Lynn Helms, North Dakota’s mineral resources director. Much of the new oil is being pumped from private ranches and farms.

Meanwhile, Mr. Obama continues to promote his “We Can’t Wait Initiative” for “green” development while ignoring the solid economic opportunities fossil fuels present. On Aug. 7, the White House announced it would expedite seven new solar and wind projects in four western states. In contrast, permits for drilling on federal land remain hard to come by since Mr. Obama curtailed drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and across the nation following the 2010 BP spill.

It’s not bad luck that has caused gas prices to soar from $1.95 when Mr. Obama took office but the result of deliberate efforts by his left-wing administration to drive up pump costs to make greenie energy sources appear affordable by comparison. Americans are feeling the drag on their bottom line as the Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index fell last week to a two-month low. “We can’t wait” is what many voters think about a change of national leadership on Election Day.

Obamanomics points U.S. toward economic destruction

By Ted Nugent – The Washington Times

Oh, yes I did, President Obama. You, sir, as usual, are wrong again.

Like the freedom-driven force that created the greatest quality of life ever, I built my business the old-fashioned way: with hard work, perseverance, enough sweat to fill a tandem oil tanker, never-ending brutal sacrifice and a belief in myself. It’s called the American Dream, Mr. President. There is no Plan B.

My first guitar was purchased with money I saved from mowing lawns, delivering newspapers, washing cars, painting fences, selling night crawlers and shoveling snow. No one loaned me a dime.

More than 6,400 concerts and 40 million records later, I’m still pursuing my American Dream regardless of the fact that government has built gigantic tax and regulation walls designed to punish me for success and hinder job creation. Thanks for nothing, Mr. No-Job-Ever.

The president wouldn’t understand that because he’s not a businessman and has zero experience in the free market. I believe that at his core, he despises the free market and thinks it to be racist and unfair.

It’s not just the president’s recent anti-business rants that have increased the suspicions of business people everywhere. His comment to Joe the Plumber four years ago about spreading the wealth around was a crass statement that much more resembled something that commie-stooge Fidel Castro would have said, not someone running for president of the United States.

Mr. Obama has surrounded himself with a Cabinet that, according to my research, indicates not one of them has had any experience at owning or running a business. I doubt that without a bailout, any of them could sell a blanket to a naked man in a blizzard.

It’s no White-House-leaked top secret that the business community does not trust the president. His statements, policies and clear and present anti-business agenda have shown contempt for the free enterprise system ever since he took up residence in the White House and began his systematic Cloward-Piven-driven destruction of our economy.

The president and his Fedzilla anti-business cohorts want to reshape America into a socialist state. They pushed through Obamacare, which will ultimately destroy private medicine and cause health care costs to skyrocket, have passed mountains of new and costly regulations on businesses that make it much more difficult to operate a business, and have attacked legitimate businesses such as Gibson Guitars, which I take as a personal affront.

With just a 35 percent approval rate among business owners, according to a recent Gallup poll, it can’t be that just conservative businessmen are lining up against the president and the crushing, oversized boot of Fedzilla that is standing on the throats of entrepreneurs.

When liberal Sen. George McGovern left the U.S. Senate and tried his hand at the free market by running a hotel, he quickly learned that Fedzilla is no friend of the private sector. In an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal on May 7, 2009, Mr. McGovern was none too kind about Fedzilla’s anti-business practices. It’s only gotten worse since he wrote of his rude awakening.

It’s one thing to not know about how the private sector works, which many politicians do not. It’s quite another to actually be opposed to the free-enterprise system. That’s our president, the anti-business, class-warrior-in-chief.

There is a big difference between voting for a guy who has been successful in private industry and voting for a guy with no experience in the private sector and who loathes the free market.

Only chumps, punks, bloodsuckers and fools would choose the guy with no experience and who despises the free market. The producers are solidly in the camp of Mitt Romney.

I am wrapping up the greatest tour of my life. If Mr. Obama gets re-elected, we will get exactly what we ask for, and it will not be pretty.

The Tingle’s Gone, Baby – John Ransom – Townhall Finance.

The Tingle’s Gone, Baby – John Ransom – Townhall Finance.

Obama’s latest mea culpa just confirms how far gone this presidency is.

In an interview with CBS’s Charlie Rose, Obama says that the problem he’s had isn’t with the failed policies of his first term, but rather that he failed “to tell a story to the American people,” according to a report in the Christian Science Monitor.

“The mistake of my first term – couple of years – was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right. And that’s important. But the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times,” said the president.

We’re paying White House staffers $38 million yearly, according to Politico, plus looking at roughly $750 million to a billion dollars in campaign spending to support this president- and the best excuse he can come up with for his failed presidency is that he’s not a good story-teller?

This is a man who largely won the presidency on nothing other than a fantastic and unbelievable story he sold to America via willing accomplices in the press.

Remember the story about Chris Matthews and the tingle that ran up his leg when Obama spoke?

That was a true story; a sad story, but still true.

But being president in one way or another, and at some point in time, for us grown ups in TV land, should become about truth, policy and the American way- not leg tingles.

Leg tingles are great for a romance, but they don’t create jobs; they’re no substitute for an energy policy; they don’t make medical bills magically disappear; they don’t pay the student loans the administration tricked students into taking; they don’t win the war in Afghanistan when you surge more troops into the country and more American troops die; they don’t solve the banking crisis; or make green investments smart; nor do leg tingles restore confidence in government and industry.

But what can you expect from an administration that has nothing to offer but new stories about it being someone else’s fault?

Leg tingles? Forget it.

That was 2008.

For 2012 the tingle is entirely different.

“Because that’s how you play the game in Washington,” admitted then-candidate Obama according to a transcript of his 2008 “closing argument” speech released by the Chicago Sun Times. “If you can’t beat your opponent’s ideas, you distort those ideas and maybe make some up.”

Indeed you do, Mr. Obama.

Because you can’t take the horror story that’s become Obama’s War-on-Everything and sell it as a children’s tome, or a feel good drama or even as a journey of personal discovery– as we were once warned about by Sarah Palin.

Because the story that led to those leg tingles has turned into one that makes the hair on the back of our neck stand straight up after three-and-a-half years.

And we can all feel the tingle now.

It’s the tingle of coal miners without jobs, teachers being laid off, public pension crunches, businesses, small and large, struggling with the most massive government intervention in this history of our country- outside of war- to what purpose?

So Obama can tell us that the only problem is that he hasn’t told us the right story yet.

Save it for your next, navel-gazing book, Mr. President.

And the sooner you write it, the better.

Because there’s another way to tell the story.

It’s the only way that really matters to all of us- regardless of our political persuasion.

You want money for roads and bridges and policeman and pension payments and health benefits already promised to retirees? You want money for teachers and new hospitals and wellness programs?

Then let’s try telling a story about prosperity.

For that story we’ll have to write a new chapter in the book of life; a chapter without President Barack Hussein Obama, and the new, improved massive federal government.

And the chapter will start like this:

Once upon a time there was a business that sold things to people. After a long struggle, it made money and sold more things to people; and so it hired more people to sell more things; and it made a very nice profit for Bain Capital, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, and so Wall Street and Main Street rejoiced alike.

That’s a story every president should believe in.

And never tire of telling us.

It’s a story that Obama will never understand.

Obama the Dictator – Tea Party Nation

Obama the Dictator – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

One of the favorite terms that is thrown around by conservatives to describe Barack Obama is the word “Dictator.”

Is this just more hyperbole or is there a good case of truth in naming here?

Obama is scrapping our Constitution, moving towards a type of government our forefathers not only loathed but also warned us against.  This is a government with a strong, central chief executive.

Obama’s blatant disregard of the law made another appearance this week as Obama decided he did not like the Welfare Reforms that were signed into law in the 1990’s.

These reforms were very successful in getting people off of the welfare rolls and getting them back to work.

Obama did not like this so what does he do?  He did what he always does.  He ignores the law.

Prior to the 1990s, welfare was easy and expansive.  People could live endlessly on welfare and make no attempt to get off of it.  The Welfare reforms on the 1990’s required that welfare recipients work.

Now, the Department of Health and Human Services has notified the states that if they want a waiver from the work requirement, all they have to do is ask.

Wham!  Just like that a law enacted by Congress and signed by another President is set aside.  Yes, it remains on the books, but it is effectively gone.

In dictatorships, Dictators make decisions and rule by decree.  In a Republic, the legislature makes laws and the executive simply carries them out.

Not in the world of Obamaland.  Now, in the People’s Republic of Obama, the Constitution no longer matters.   If Obama does not want his top people to be confirmed by the Senate, he simply declares them Czars and puts them into positions without bothering to send them to the Senate for confirmation.  He does not like the Defense of Marriage Act, he declares it unconstitutional and says he will not defend it from legal challenges.

Obama’s favorite mantra when he speaks to his adoring faithful is, “we can’t wait.”  That’s his excuse.  The legislative branch has the good sense to stop his stupid ideas.  He does not like it so instead of compromising, he simply imposes by fiat.

Anyone remember when the Republicans went to the White House in 2009 and complained about Obama’s agenda?  He simply announced, “I won.”

That is Obama.  I won therefore I can do what I want.

In the last 70 years, almost all Presidents have tried to expand the power of the Presidency.  Obama is not simply trying to expand the powers of the Presidency.  He is trying to make it, not one of three coequal branches of government, but the dominant branch of government to which all must bow down before.

Barack Obama is the most dangerous man ever to have stepped into the Oval Office.   If the GOP goes ahead and nominates Romney we will have a Republican candidate who will probably not expand the powers that Obama assumed but also will do nothing to roll them back to their Constitutional limits either.

For those of us who are baby boomers, we grew up in the greatest, freest nation this world has ever known.    Now it is our freedom that may soon be on the endangered species list.

The silver lining? Now Obama owns his tax hikes – Washington Times – Charles Hurt .

Conservatives gathering now for a low-tech lynching of Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. need to take a quick breath of air and think about what he managed to accomplish by upholding President Obama’s highly unpopular, signature piece of legislation.

Though he shocked many by joining the left plank on the high court, Justice Roberts. pretty much did what he was supposed to do. He finally put a boundary on how much freedom the federal government can gobble up from states and individuals under the “commerce clause” — that most specious scheme for so much federal thievery.

Then he told President Obama and his kleptocrats in Congress that they can have their health care law, but they cannot keep lying about it. A tax is a tax and they are liars if they call it anything else. And they just stuck the crippled American taxpayer with one of the biggest, broadest, most regressive tax-hikes in history — and during a deep recession!

Finally, Justice Roberts turned to the bumbling, tongue-twisted and goofball opposition party — sometimes called the “Republican” party but usually called the “stupid” or “slow” party — and told them to man up, quit whining and fix the horrific mess that they are so much responsible for. They may have messed their diaper, but he’s not changing it for them.

OK, fine, maybe Republicans didn’t vote for Obamacare. Woo-hoo! And that got us, well, Obamacare anyway.

Yes, Republicans are nearly equally responsible for Obamacare because they set the stage perfectly for Mr. Obama’s unquestioned ascent to the White House and handed his kleptocrats complete control of Congress for the first two years of the Great Taxus Interegnum.

So badly had they mishandled the economy and everything else and so badly had they compromised and corrupted themselves that even Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid became viable options for leadership.

It was under the dazed gaze of San Fran Pelosi and the fat-fisted leadership of Vegas Reid that we got stuck with Obamacare.

In response to an ocean of debt, out-of-control spending and taxpayers running out of money, Mrs. Pelosi, Mr. Reid and Mr. Obama decided to double down on the debt, spend even more money we don’t have and take away what little money taxpayers had left.

And in response to the highest unemployment in decades, they decided to take even more money away from the companies that provide jobs. And then they yoked those companies with Obamacare.

Somehow, Republicans were not able to make a coherent argument against all of this. They could not make the simple argument that if you don’t like your postal service, you aren’t going to like health care brought to you by the federal government either.

Now, going into the election, President Obama has his law and now he must live with it. He must own it. And he must be judged for the massive taxes his law will levy on innocent Americans.

And then it will be up to Mitt Romney and a new set of Republicans to clean up this legislative cesspool.

Because, as Justice Roberts eloquently writes:

“Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our nation´s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.”
