Senate passes S.744 amnesty, but grassroots opposition is on the way to blocking it in House | NumbersUSA – For Lower Immigration Levels

Senate passes S.744 amnesty, but grassroots opposition is on the way to blocking it in House | NumbersUSA – For Lower Immigration Levels.

What just happened: This afternoon, 68 Senators voted to pass S. 744. (Click here for the full roll call.) The bad news: If eventually signed into law, this bill would threaten to knock millions of Americans out of the middle class by flooding their occupations with 33 million foreign citizens who are offered lifetime work permits over the next decade. Can you believe 68 U.S. Senators voted for that? The willingness of every single Democratic Senator and almost a third of Republicans to accept the corporate lobbyists’ insistence that our country faces devastating labor shortages is disheartening to all of us who have fought so hard to protect the 20 million Americans who can’t find a full-time job, and the millions more who have seen their real wages declining for decades during a worker surplus.

What’s next, and the good news about your efforts thus far: Now, we must turn our full efforts to immigrationthe U.S. House of Representatives and another huge grassroots effort in July. But this will be only a three-week fight before the month-long August recess.

There is no question that the five-month opposition that all of you have waged is having good results in the House, where the Senate bill is facing an increasingly hostile reception.

If the House refuses to move a giant overall amnesty, it doesn’t matter what the Senate has done.

Your efforts have been phenomenal: Over the last few months, you have been faxing your Representatives and going to their offices, even as you focused primary attention on Senators. Republican Representatives have watched the incredible grassroots opposition to the 14 Republican Senators who broke with the rest of their Party and supported Pres. Obama‘s top priority for the year.

Just today, Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Illinois), a member of the House Republican leadership, told reporters,

“It is a pipe dream to think that that (Senate) bill is going to go to the (House) floor and be voted on. The House is going to move through in a more deliberative process.”

For months, the open-borders lobby and their supporters in the news media have proclaimed that citizens were not speaking against this amnesty anything close to the way they did in 2007.

Your efforts back in 2007 to mobilize against that amnesty effort has become the stuff of legend around Washington. But I’m so proud to tell you that over the last five months — especially the past two weeks — you smashed the old records for activism! You’ve sent millions of faxes and made hundreds of thousands of phone calls into congressional offices.

For example, Republican Bob Corker, the Senator who rescued the S. 744 amnesty from defeat last week with a fig-leaf border control amendment, admitted on the floor this morning that the bill is extremely unpopular back in his state of Tennessee.

All of us at NumbersUSA thank you U.S. citizens for everything you have done thus far. And we thank you for all Americans who will benefit if the House blocks the incredibly harmful provisions of S. 744.

Fighting the bad stuff in narrow House bill: The  grassroots uprising against the Senate has truly caught hold among House Republicans who have persuaded their Leadership to go along with House Judiciary Chairman Goodlatte (R-Virginia) to refuse to do a giant comprehensive bill, instead passing small bills that deal with one immigration issue at a time.

isupportlegalimmigrationThe problem is that the special-interest lobbyists are succeeding in getting a number of provisions into those small bills that would harm American wage-earners and taxpayers.

We will be coming to you for assistance in taming those Fat Cat Welfare provisions.

Dealing with the Conference Committee danger: Even if the House passes an absolutely wonderful immigration bill — such as the enforcement legislation recently passed overwhelmingly by the Judiciary Committee — that would give Senate leaders the opportunity to ask for a joint Senate/House “Conference Committee” which would split the difference between that very good bill and the Senate monstrosity.

If a Conference compromise bill were to include an amnesty, both the Senate and House would need to vote for it, without opportunity for amendment. The general thinking here in Washington is that most House Democrats would vote for the Conference “report” bill and very likely the needed couple dozen or so House Republicans would, too..

But . . .

Even if the Senate leadership were to ask for a Conference Committee, Speaker Boehner would not have to agree and appoint House conferees.

And even if there were a Conference Committee that reported out a bill with an amnesty, Speaker Boehner would not have to bring it to the House floor for a vote.

We have precedents in 2005 and 2006 for what we can hope will happen this year.

Many of you were part of those battles in which the House passed an excellent enforcement bill in late 2005. Despite our best efforts, the Republican-Majority Senate passed an amnesty in the spring of 2006. Then-Speaker Hastert refused to conference over those two bills, and the Senate amnesty died. (It was the next spring in 2007 when the new Democrat-Majority Senate failed to pass an amnesty when the new Democrat-Majority House was sure to have approved it.)

Until recently, Speaker Boehner has kept open the option of bringing an amnesty bill to the House floor that might pass with a minority of Republican votes — as he has done with some fiscal bills in the past. But over the last week, he has assured an increasingly aggressive Republican Conference in the House that he would not bring an immigration bill to the floor without at least a bare majority of Republicans supporting it.

Nonetheless, until today, he has refused to say what he would do about a Conference report that reconciled House and Senate bills.

This morning, once again, we saw the results of the powerful grassroots opposition to what the Senate has been doing. Politico just reported that Boehner told reporters :

“For any legislation including the conference report to pass the House it’s going to have to be a bill that has the support of the majority of our members.”

As you know, our Board of Directors, our staff and our members are Independents, Republicans and Democrats. But our July House Battle will be all about making sure that the majority of Republicans are against any overall amnesty. And we want the majority to be at least the two-thirds majority opposition to overall amnesty that we saw among Senate Republicans today.

The pro-amnesty, low-wage, labor globalization folks want Congress to believe that Americans will lose their will to fight and will just go back to reading celebrity news. But that’s not the Americans I’ve known ever since we’ve worked together to stop every amnesty attempt in every year starting in 2001 (after seven amnesties passed between 1986 and 2000).

Which Senators voted out of belief in ‘labor shortages’ and bogus enforcement promises?

At NumbersUSA, we have an Immigration Grade Card system that ensures that no vote against the interests of the American people will ever be forgotten.

Today, 68 Senators cast votes that will be very difficult to ever redeem with future actions.

After all the promises of “enforcement first,” these Senators accepted an entirely “amnesty first” bill that in the first few months would give work permits and legalization to some 11 million foreign citizens who either (a) crossed the border illegally, most of them by paying drug cartels and many of them by helping the cartels move drugs, or who (b) violated the promises on their vacation and guest visas and illegally took U.S. jobs (often through identity theft and fraud) and a share of the taxpayer-provided infrastructure.

Every single Democratic Senator voted YES to the amnesty and to the arguments of corporate lobbyists that a nation with 20 million Americans unable to find full-time jobs is desperately in need of 33 million new lifetime work permits for foreign citizens over the next decade.

And these Republican Senators voted YES to the same provisions, breaking with the majority of their Party (32 Senators) and all four of their Senate Party leaders:

Alexander (R-TN)
Ayotte (R-NH)
Chiesa (R-NJ)
Collins (R-ME)
Corker (R-TN)
Flake (R-AZ)
Graham (R-SC)
Hatch (R-UT)
Heller (R-NV)
Hoeven (R-ND)
Kirk (R-IL)
McCain (R-AZ)
Murkowski (R-AK)
Rubio (R-FL)

We will work with all of you to ensure that those 68 Senators are held accountable for their betrayal today of American wage-earners, of the unemployed and of the rule of law.

But our top attention must now be in the July House Battle that your activism has so-well prepared us for.

RINOs and cowardly conservatives – Tea Party Nation

RINOs and cowardly conservatives – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

Conservatives always lament RINOs.  Conservatives ask why we end up with RINOs all of the time.

Where are the conservatives that can defeat RINOs?

One of the worst RINOs in the Senate has been at work again.   But understanding how he got there might help conservatives rid the Party of these RINOs.

Who is one of the worst RINOs and how did he get there?

One of the worst RINOs is Bob Corker of Tennessee.  Corker, despite his pledge to the people of Tennessee that he was a conservative, has been a non-stop disaster for Republicans.

When the Democrats need help, they can count on Bob Corker to help bail them out.   Corker almost singlehandedly revived the horrendous Dodd-Frank financial reform bill.

Now he is riding to the rescue to save the Gang of Eight and their amnesty bill.

How did we end up with Corker?

He was a businessman in east Tennessee, who got the political bug.  He ran or the Senate and lost in 1994.  He became Mayor of Chattanooga and then in 2006, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist announced he would not run for reelection.

Corker quickly threw his hat into the ring, as did two other Republicans.  They were Ed Bryant and Van Hillary

Both Bryant and Hillary were good solid conservatives.  They had been swept into office as a part of the 1994 Gingrich revolution.  Both served three terms and then left.  Bryant ran for the Senate, losing to “Liberal” Lamar Alexander.  Hillary ran for Tennessee governor, losing to Phil Bredesen.

As 2006, rolled on, the three men campaigned against each other for the Republican nomination for the Senate.

While that campaign was going on, another campaign was going on in Tennessee.  Governor Phil Bredesen was running for reelection.  As two well-funded, well-regarded and experienced candidates were busy dividing the conservative vote for the Senate, Tennessee Republicans were desperately searching for a candidate to challenge Bredesen for reelection.

Jim Bryson was a relatively unknown state senator who ended up running against Bredesen.  The term that was often used by political pundits to describe Bryson’s campaign was, “sacrificial lamb.”

In August 2006, Corker won the three way primary with 48% of the vote.  The two conservatives split the majority of the vote.  Since Tennessee does not have a runoff system, Corker became the nominee.   In November, Bredesen handily defeated Bryson, carrying all of Tennessee’s 95 counties and gaining a second term.

There are lessons to be learned from this.

First, had conservatives united behind a single candidate, we could have had a conservative Senator instead of Corker.  Second, conservatives need to learn how to be very forceful with conservative candidates.  In Tennessee in 2006, one of the candidates for the Senate should have been told to drop out and run for governor.

Had that happened, in January 2007, Tennessee might have seen a conservative Republican Governor and a conservative United States Senator

This is a lesson conservatives should and must learn as we look to the 2014 elections.

While there are some squishy Republicans we should give a pass to because it is better to have them than a Democrat, there are some RINOs in solidly Red States that we must replace.

Lamar Alexander is one of them.  Lindsay Graham is another.  Conservatives must do something we are unaccustomed to doing.  We must unite and get behind one candidate in each of those races and replace those two RINOs.

Several candidates are already talking about running against Graham.  Alexander has done a good job of trying to co-opt his potential competition but there are a couple of people who are thinking about running against him.  Once the candidates have announced, the conservatives in those states must unite to find someone who can defeat both Alexander and Graham.

Winning the Senate is the crucial battle of 2014.  We need not only a Republican majority in the Senate; we need to replace some of the worst RINOs.  There are some RINOs that if we primary them, we risk losing their seat and losing control of the Senate.  But there are some, like Alexander and Graham, we can primary and not worry about losing the general election.

Conservatives must learn from our failures of the past and act.  Only then can we put RINOs on the endangered species list.

Endgame – Tea Party Nation

Endgame – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

We are rapidly approached the endgame in American politics.

The endgame is the place the liberals want us to be.    There is only one thing stopping them from hitting the endgame point.

 What is it?

Republican control of the House of Representatives.

 What is their endgame point?

It is socialism. It is the end of freedom and liberty.

The left is engaged in the strategy known as Cloward-Piven.  It is named after two Marxist professors who wanted to bring down the government first in New York City and then eventually in America.

The strategy is simple.  Overwhelm the system with demands that it cannot meet.  Then the system will collapse.

We are seeing that today.  From America’s overwhelming debt, to amnesty, to Obamacare, the left is trying to create so many demands on America’s economic system that it will collapse.

There is one last hurdle they have to overcome to get there.

That is Republican control of the House of Representatives.

As this year opened, one of the biggest topics of conversation in DC was whether Harry Reid, the bordello child from Nevada and erstwhile majority leader for the Party of Treason in the Senate would change the rules to abolish the filibuster.

Looking back on it now, it seems obvious he would not do it.

 Why?

Because it would have been a meaningless point.

Harry Reid can get the Party of Treason to pass as many bills as it wants but as long as the Republicans control the House, most of those bills would be DOA.

But what happens if the Party of Treason gains control of the House again in 2014?

Then you can count on Harry Reid eliminating the filibuster so that a simple majority vote gets bills passed in the Senate.

This of course assumes that the Party of Treason maintains control of the Senate.  At this point, things look good for the Republicans to take control of the Senate.  However, in 2010 and 2012 things also looked good.  Never underestimate the ability of the Republican Party to blow an election.

If the Party of Treason takes control of the House, Reid will abolish the filibuster in the Senate by rule change and then you will see the all out, final assault on liberty.

Liberals openly talk about the need to limit freedom and liberty.

Melissa Harris Perry is a left wing nut job on MSNBC, the official channel of the Party of Treason.  She caused controversy with comments recently about how children should not be raised by their parents but by a collective community.

Now she has doubled down on her comments.  In a promo airing on the Channel of Treason, she says:

“This isn’t about me wanting to take your kids, and this isn’t even about whether children are property. This is about whether we as a society, expressing our collective will through our public institutions, including our government, have a right to impinge on individual freedoms in order to advance a common good. And that is exactly the fight that we have been having for a couple hundred years.”

Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao would have loved her.  After all, they impinged on the individual freedom of life and liberty to advance a “common good.”

If the Party of Treason ends up controlling the House and the Senate after the 2014 elections, we will see the impinging of individual freedom for the advancement of the “common good.”

Freedom of speech and religion will be gone.  The Second Amendment will be gone.  The 7th Amendment will be at best curtailed if not eliminated.  The 10th Amendment will simply be a museum piece and state boundaries will be little more than lines on a map.

We will no longer be the United States of America but the United State of America, with a tyrannical, massive central government.

This is what our founding fathers feared.

This is the end game for liberals.

The 2014 election comes down to one simple point.  Either real Americans win the election or we all lose our freedom so the left can advance their “common good.”

But as we know about liberals, their ideas never benefit the common people nor are they good.

The Speech No One Heard – Tea Party Nation

The Speech No One Heard – Tea Party Nation.

By Alan Caruba

On Tuesday, March 5, Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell, offered some remarks on the Senate floor that were largely, if not completely, ignored by the mainstream media. They were a stark warning about a dysfunctional government led by a President who is already in full campaign mode for the 2014 midterm elections.

“Back in November,” said McConnell, “the American people sent a divided government to Washington. I know this is not the outcome President Obama had hoped for. I know he wanted complete control of Washington, just like he had the first two years of his presidency.”

Citing the President’s goal of a Democrat controlled House, in addition to the Senate in 2014, McConnell cited the rebooting of his political organization, the provoking of “manufactured crisis with Congress, engineering show votes in the Senate, and traveling around the country to campaign relentlessly against his opponents.” That’s a nice way of saying that the President and the Democrat Party have embarked on the deliberate demonization of Republicans.

McConnell cited the implementation of the Sequester as opposed to any response to the nation’s financial crisis, noting that Republicans and all Americans “find ourselves in a situation where more than 1,400 days have passed since Senate Democrats have passed a budget” and the fact that “House Republicans have passed budgets that seriously address the transcendent challenge of our time, putting runaway Washington spending and debt on a sustainable path so we can create jobs and grow the economy.”

Families have to have a budget, but as far as the Obama administration is concerned, the nation does not. McConnell pointed out that “The President has been late submitting his own budget outline nearly every single year. He’s already missed this year’s deadline by more than a month.”

The budget blueprint he sent us last year,” said McConnell, “”was so roundly ridiculed for its fiscal gimmickry and its massive tax hikes that, when it come to a vote in the Senate, his own party joined Republicans in voting it down 99 to O.”

“The President has to figure out how to govern with the situation he’s got, not the one he wishes had. That’s what being President is all about.”

McConnell went on to urge the President and the Senate to join in “actually solving problems” by legislating the way “we’re supposed to around here, with transparency, with public input, and with sufficient time to develop sound policy.”

“I know Washington Democrats’ most important priority right now is getting Nancy Pelosi her old job back in 2014. But that’s not what Americans want—and that’s why Washington has become so dysfunctional.”

McConnell speaks with the authority of his position in the Senate, but he also speaks in a low-key, often bland way, about the serious problems facing the nation. In the House his counterpart, John Boehner, the Speaker, has reached a point of such frustration that he speaks publicly in short angry bursts. Neither command either the media’s nor the public’s attention.

“The public,” said McConnell, expects the Congress and the White House “to address the most serious challenges facing our country. The public is tired of the manufactured crisis, the poll-tested gimmicks, and the endless campaigning—they expect and deserve better.”

I would not swap jobs with McConnell. Not only does his counterpart in the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid, lie in the same fashion as the President, but McConnell knows that at least four million Republicans stayed home and did not vote in the 2012 election. The House is a fractious place at best for either party.

Meanwhile the problems facing the nation continue to mount. By way of illustrating this, on Obama’s watch the nation’s Standard and Poor’s credit rating went from AAA, the highest, to AA+, the first such reduction in the history of the nation.

The price of regular gas when Obama was elected was $2.75 and is now $3.73. The number of people that were on food stamps has risen from 26 million to 47 million. Obama has added six trillion to the national debt and it grows by the hour.

By any measurement one applies, the nation is sliding toward another financial crisis and Mitch McConnell’s efforts in the Senate continue to go largely unreported.

Is anyone listening?

Another liberal human shield – Tea Party Nation

Another liberal human shield – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

A_GGYrOCUAMcAQM.jpg largeLiberals, like tyrants and terrorists, love human shields.    Human shields, whether they are in war or politics have the same goal.  They want to use a person or people to stop the other side from attacking.  The strategy is simple.  The publicity blowback from the attack on an innocent person would be so severe it deters someone from attacking.

Who is the latest liberal human shield and what are they trying to do?

The latest human shield is former Congressman and liberal Democrat Gabriel Giffords.

Giffords is the former Congressman from Arizona and she holds the distinction of being the least deserving person to have a navy ship named after them.

In January 2011, a deranged man in Tucson critically wounded Giffords.  She went through an extensive rehab program and eventually returned to Congress and public life.

Yesterday she showed up as a witness in the Senate hearings on gun control.   The fact that she was the first witness was no accident.  It was a deliberate strategy.

Gabriel Giffords, the latest liberal human shield.

 The strategy is simple.

No Republican would dare attack poor Gabby Giffords on this issue.  She gets to stand in front of the Senate and tell them to, “Be bold. Be courageous,” as the Senate strips Americans of their rights.

The trap sits there, just like a split finger fastball in baseball.   The pitch looks like a great pitch down the middle and when the batter cannot resist the impulse to swing, the pitch drops out of the strike zone.

The Obama propaganda media fawned over Giffords and was praying to the statue of Walter Cronkite that some Republican would challenge Giffords so they could make the Republican look like a bully for challenging this poor victim.

A_Pw2EzCcAA5H99.png large The real story here is the media strategy of the left.  They do not want a debate on gun control because they know they will lose.  Americans overwhelmingly do not want gun control.

Of course, the left is never concerned with what the American people want.

There is a witness I would love to see at a Senate Hearing.  This will never happen but maybe House Republicans will show some courage and invite her.

On New Year’s Eve 2011, 18-year-old Sarah McKinley was at home with her 3 month old child.  The child’s father had died just a week earlier.  Two men, one armed with a 12 inch hunting knife, broke into her home.  She was on the phone for 21 minutes with 911 begging them to get help as the two men tried to enter her home.

When they finally broke into her home, she took a gun, shot and killed one of the two intruders.  The other fled.

What would have happened that night had she not had a gun?

Well it is safe to say those two were not trying to see the ball drop in Times Square on McKinley’s TV.

Another woman, Melinda Herman, probably won’t get an invitation to speak to the Senate either.  Earlier this month, she was at home alone with her two children when she saw a suspicious man.  This man then tried to break into her house.  She was on the phone for ten minutes with 911 while the man not only got into her home but also systematically worked his way through it.

Finally he kicked the door open to the room where Melinda was hiding with her children.

Glock has a great series of commercials showing criminals going to commit crimes where the people own Glock pistols and the punch line of the commercial is “wrong house” or “wrong girl.”

In Melinda Herman’s case, for the criminal it was both the wrong house and wrong girl.  She opened fire striking him five times.

Instead of having real Americans talk about how their gun rights saved lives, the left only wants to put up a human shield, so no one can debate them.

Real Americans should remind those who are allegedly our public servants that the 2nd Amendment exists not only to stop those who want to take our property but also to stop those who want to take our liberty and freedom as well.choice1

The end of the Republic – Tea Party Nation

The end of the Republic – Tea Party Nation.

Jaczko the Jerk: Harry Reid's Sexist Crony Gets the Boot - Michelle Malkin - Townhall Conservative ColumnistsThere is a scene in the original Star Wars movie from 1977 where General Tarkin (played by famed British Actor Peter Cushing) tells Darth Vader that the Emperor has dissolved the Senate.  He tells Vader, “The last remnants of the old Republic have been swept away forever.”

America was created as a Constitutional Republic as our founding fathers were very aware of the inherent dangers of a Democracy.  The left has worked hard to destroy the protections a Republic provides its citizens.

There is a threat to what is left of the protections a Constitutional Republic gives its citizens.  While this story has flown under the radar because of other news, something very dangerous is coming.  This is something that will sweep away one of the last remnants of our Constitutional Republic.

 What is it?

The Filibuster has been a time-honored technique used in the Senate to keep the majority from running roughshod over the minority.  A filibuster puts a hold on everything and it cannot be stopped unless 60 Senators vote for cloture or to end debate.

The filibuster causes one party to compromise and it slows down legislation, since the Senate is supposed to be a deliberative body.

Now, as the Senate comes back into session in January, the Democrats are planning to do something that will change the nature of the Senate and our Constitutional Republic.

Harry Reid, the Democrat Senate Majority Leader, wants to do away with the filibuster.

The Senate, unlike the House of Representatives is a continuing body.  The Senate has 22 Rules that it operates under, 16 of those rules date from the establishment of the Senate.  When the House of Representatives meets, it creates new rules every time.  The Senate is a continuing body so it does not have to.  Now Reid wants to change the Rules of the Senate, just making stuff up as he goes.

Reid wants to operate under the fiction that the Senate is not a continuing body therefore a majority vote sets new rules when it shows up ever January.   The Rules of the Senate are decided on a majority vote.  Therefore, with a majority vote, the filibuster can be abolished.

Abolishing the Filibuster sounds like one of those boring inside Washington debates that no one in real America cares about.

 Nothing could be more wrong!

If Harry Reid is able to abolish the filibuster, everything the Senate considers (other than matters specified by the Constitution) will require only a majority vote.

The Obama Compliant media has been talking about how the Republicans are misusing the filibuster just because they want to obstruct the Democrats.

As usual with the mainstream media, you are not getting the full story.

Harry Reid has been using a parliamentary trick called “Filling the tree.”  Basically what that means is that he fills up all of the possible opportunities for Amendments to bills.

This means the minority, in other words the Republicans, has no opportunity to offer amendments to bills.  Republicans cannot get bills voted on unless Harry Reid approves.  Republicans cannot get amendments voted on unless Harry Reid wants to allow the vote.

In short, Harry Reid has gone from being the Majority Leader of the Senate to the Dictator of the Senate.   The Republicans have one tool left.

 That is the Filibuster.

If the Filibuster is abolished, the gates will be opened.  Liberal groups are already lining up to try to push through legislation they want that could not survive filibuster.  This includes Cap and Trade, Card Check, gun control and almost everything else on the liberal wish list.

In addition, nominees could no longer be filibustered.  This would open the door for Obama to appoint the most radical people possible to Federal openings, including Judges who receive lifetime appointments.

For once, Republicans are standing firm on this issue.  But we need six Democrats to defect.   The Democrats are not monolithic on this one.  Some of the Democrats who have served for a long time have an institutional memory and do not think this is a good idea.  Others realize that if the Filibuster is abolished, it is not coming back and one day the Republicans will control the Senate again.   There are Democrats in the Senate who are in red states who will face election in 2014.  They realize that if the Senate pushes through radical legislation, their chances of reelection will diminish radically.

We need to call every Senator’s office and tell them to oppose any change to the Filibuster.

Our founding fathers knew what a Democracy would mean and that is why they gave us a Constitutional Republic.   Those safeguards of the Republic have been done away with and the Filibuster in the Senate is one of the last.   If it falls, the Republic falls too.

Tell your friends and your Tea Party group about this.

Call every Senator today and demand they vote against any change to the Senate Rules regarding Filibusters.

The Internet is one of modern marvels of the world.  It started out as a simple government project to allow the government to be able to communicate wyoursignith other parts of the government in the event of a major disaster like nuclear war.

When it was opened up to the civilian world, it became the major economic engine of the early 21stCentury.

The Internet works amazingly well, so what are those geniuses we sent to Washington want to do? Here is a hint.  The word “fairness” is involved.

 How?

These idiots want to tax it.

That’s right.  They want to impose taxes.   There is a bill pending in the Senate to tax the Internet.  It is called the “Marketplace Fairness Act.”

You don’t need to know anything else other than when you see the word fairness in a bill it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Liberal Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander is leading this charge, along with Liberal member of the Party of Treason Dick Durbin and Mike Enzi (RINO-WY) are all trying to sneak this bill into the National Defense Authorization Act that would allow states to collect sales taxes from businesses on the Internet.

We are facing massive tax increases at the first of the year and these guys think we are not taxed enough!

These three clowns act like teenagers on a shopping spree down at the mall.  They want to spend more so they run to the ATM.

 Unfortunately we are their ATM.

First, what does this bill have to do with Defense?

 Nothing!

This is one of the huge problems in Congress.   Bills are created that are thousands of pages long.  They have provisions in them that have nothing to do with the subject matter of the bill.  Yet, politicians hook these extraneous provisions in there so that they can be included in a bill that must be supported, such as the National Defense Authorization Act.warning2

The other matter is this bill will kill business on the Internet.  Right now, companies that sell on the Internet only have to pay local taxes if they have a physical presence in a state.

If this scheme to tax the Internet goes through, businesses will not have to simply deal with Federal Taxation and the state or states they have a physical presence in, they will now have to deal with every one of the 46 states that has some type of a sales tax.

This will create massive new costs for businesses and will put some small businesses out of business.

One of the biggest advocates for this new Internet sales tax is Tennessee’s liberal Governor Bill Haslam.

He has been working with Lamar Alexander to push this bill through the Senate under the radar.

The fact that some of the biggest sponsors and advocates of this bill are Republicans should tell you how out of touch Republicans are with reality today.

While we need to address the issue of the insanity of the Republican Party and replacing the GOP with the Party of Liberty, right now we need to work to stop this terrible bill.

The taxing trio tried to attach this bill to the NDAA but the Senate has closed debate on that bill without the “Marketplace Fairness Act” attached.   These three will probably try to attach this bill to some other bill to get it passed because the “Marketplace Fairness Act” would never pass on its own.

Call your Senators today and tell them to vote against any attempt to add the “Marketplace Fairness Act” to any other piece of legislation.

Call Senator Lamar Alexander’s office as well as Senator Mike Enzi’s office and ask them why they are sponsoring a bill that will dramatically increase the tax burden on small businesses that operate on the Internet.

Lamar Alexander’s office number is 202-224-4944.  Mike Enzi’s office number is 202-224-3424

As with most bills in Congress today, this one is another really bad idea.  Let’s start calling and make sure we kill this bad bill.

We have witnessed the perspectives of those in government, we have heard the answers in recent presidential debates, but what did those who DESIGNED it envision? Wouldn’t you like to KNOW what government is supposed to be doing? The interesting thing is, we don’t have to guess, we don’t have to make it up, we simply need to look to the framers of our Constitution. It is almost simplistically elegant the way they described the role of the Senate and the House. Yet, even the simplest of explanations seem to have eluded the entire government machine. As the employers of our government, it is essential that we know what government is supposed to be doing and require them to fully accomplish their job description.

What follows is a brief and simple primer about the structure of our Republic according to our founders. James Madison said that the powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined. He lists them as war, peace negotiations, and foreign commerce. He explains that the general welfare clause does not grant the government the power to do generally whatever they want; it simply describes the purpose in delegating those few powers he listed. In other words our founders believed in and intended limited government, very limited.

“I, sir, have always conceived—I believe those who proposed the Constitution conceived—it is still more fully known and more material to observe, that those who rarified the Constitution conceived—that is is not an indefinite government…but a limited Government. The Powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined…war, peace negotiations, and foreign commerce.” James Madison

By the same token, Congress was to have a limited and strictly defined role as well. Congress was not established to “become” the federal government but to control it on behalf of the people. That is the reason they hold the most influence and control through the checks and balances established through powers of impeachment and congressional oversight.

In the American Constitution The general authority will be derived entirely from the subordinate authorities. The Senate will represent the States in their political capacity; the other House will represent the people of the States in their individual capac[it]y. ~James Madison to Thomas Jefferson 24 Oct. 1787

First, the Senate was established to represent the states in the federal government. That is why each state is allotted the same number of Senators, to ensure equal representation and therefore equal control for all states. The Senate’s primary job description was to protect the states from federal encroachment and ensure each state’s sovereignty. “Defenders of the 10th Amendment” would be a good description for the job our founders intended them to perform.

President bears no resemblance to a king, so we shall see the Senate have no similitude to nobles. First then not being hereditary, their collective knowledge, wisdom and virtue are not precarious, for by these qualities alone are they to obtain their offices; and they will have none of the peculiar follies and vices of those men who possess power merely because their fathers held it before them, for they will be educated (under equal advantages and with equal prospects) among and on a footing with the other sons of a free people.~Tench Coxe– An American Citizen: An Examination of the Constitution of the United States II September 28, 1788

The House was designed to be the representatives of the people. That is why there are more house members than senators, to better reflect the population of people in each state. The House’s primary job description was to be the guardians of Liberty, so the people can maintain the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. “Defenders of the 9th Amendment”would be a good description for the job our founders intended them to perform.

Each member of this truly popular assembly will be chosen by about six thousand electors, by the poor as well as the rich. No decayed and venal borough will have an unjust share in their determinations. No old Sarum will send thither a Representative by the voice of a single elector. As we shall have no royal ministries to purchase votes, so we shall have no votes for sale. For the suffrages of six thousand enlightened and independent freemen are above all price.~ Tench Coxe- An American Citizen: An Examination of the Constitution of the United States III September 29, 1788

But here we are today with a Senate that looks more like a protector of the federal government than a defender of the states and a House that feels it’s primary role is to “protect” national security instead of the rights and Liberty of the people. Placing security over liberty seems to be a common affliction of our Congress. Remember Patrick Henry made it perfectly clear that without Liberty life was not even worth living. Benjamin Franklin rightfully declared that if security was placed above Liberty, we would lose them both.

Our framers made it clear that if the federal government was not following their constitutional duties or abiding by the limitations established, their actions (their laws) were null and void.

If the federal government should overpass the just bounds of its authority and make a tyrannical use of its powers, the people, whose creature it is, must appeal to the standard they have formed, and take such measures to redress the injury done to the Constitution… But it will not follow…that acts of the large society which are NOT PURSUANT to its constitutional powers, but which are invasions of the residuary authorities of the smaller societies, will become the supreme law of the land. These will be merely acts of usurpation, and will deserve to be treated as such. Hence we perceive that the clause which declares the supremacy of the laws of the Union, like the one we have just before considered, only declares a truth, which flows immediately and necessarily from the institution of a federal government. It will not, I presume, have escaped observation, that it EXPRESSLY confines this supremacy to laws made PURSUANT TO THE CONSTITUTION.~ Federalist Paper #33

This is the fundamental principle of state nullification. If Congress understood their proper role they would KNOW that when the federal government creates unjust and unconstitutional law, it is their job to protect the people from it and declare the sovereignty of the people over the powers delegated to the federal government. If they really understood their oath to the Constitution and what their obligations were, THEY would be nullifying Obamacare, UN Treaties, and the myriad of unconstitutional executive orders spewed out by this current administration.

Of course there are those who would assert that the Supreme Court has “declared” state nullification invalid. The problem with that assertion is that the Supreme Court is NOT the supreme law of the land. The Supreme Court is one third of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (the division of government with the least power, by the way), a Federal government created by the people. Allowing SCOTUS to determine the degree of sovereignty each state has over the federal government is the ultimate expression of a conflict of interest. Let us remember that the Federal government, which includes the SCOTUS is a creature of the people. Would you allow the defendant in a criminal case to decide HIS own guilt or innocence? Of course not! But allowing the Supreme Court to determine how the Federal Government (of which it is a part) is operating with respect to State’s rights is to have to have the offender declaring his own innocence. Is the Supreme Court capable of making the proper ruling? I’m sure they are, but they are equally capable of making the improper ruling and such would be the destruction of liberty by declaring the 9th and 10th Amendments irrelevant.

Alexander Hamilton declared in Federalist paper #33 that when the government steps outside its constitutional bounds, it is incumbent upon the people to redress the injury done to the Constitution.

The current lack of understanding of the proper relationship between the States and its Federal Government as well as the neglect of the proper roles of our Congressional employees is leading directly to the destruction of our Constitution. And as Daniel Webster warned, we as a nation have an obligation to hold onto this great Constitution, or suffer consequences of our neglect.

Is our Constitution worth preserving?Guard it as you would guard the seat of your life, guard it not only against the open blows of violence, but also against that spirit of change…Miracles do not cluster. That which has happened but once in six thousand years, cannot be expected to happen often. Such a government, once destroyed, would have a void to be filled, perhaps for centuries, with evolution and tumult, riot and despotism.~ An Anniversary Address by Daniel Webster July 4th 1806

The UN Gun Control Treaty Is Bad for Gun Owners Everywhere – Chuck Norris – Townhall.com

The UN Gun Control Treaty Is Bad for Gun Owners Everywhere – Chuck Norris – Townhall.com.

Last time I checked, Americans were responsible for making our own laws. We do not invite foreign nations to have a say in how we govern ourselves within our own borders. Yet if you follow what’s been going on with the United Nations this year, you know that the USA came perilously close to having other countries dictate our gun laws. And the fight isn’t over yet.

The United Nations has been debating an arms trade treaty for nearly a decade now. Though the treaty is ostensibly focused on military arms, it has long been clear that the majority of U.N. delegates consider our personal firearms to be crying out for international regulation, as well. The focus of the treaty would be a demand that governments regulate the sale and possession of firearms worldwide — all of them, including yours and mine.

Though I believe that firearms should not be in the wrong hands, the proposed terms of this global gun control treaty would overreach wildly into regulating the sale of firearms to law-abiding citizens. In other words, the proposed treaty is a mechanism for Iran and other tyrannical powers to have a say in your gun ownership.

The George W. Bush administration wisely opposed this concept, asserting that any agreement to regulate private gun ownership would represent a threat to our Second Amendment freedoms. This proclamation was the death knell for the first U.N. gun control treaty conference more than 10 years ago.

But bad ideas at the U.N. never go away; they just fade until the political climate changes. Treaty discussions went underground for several years — until the Obama administration announced a willingness to consider a new treaty, as long as the parties operated under “consensus.”

The debate reached a fever pitch during a monthlong marathon negotiation session in July. The goal was to disgorge a treaty in time for the Obama administration to sign it before Election Day. The draft treaty was odious on its face. Among other things, it would have required the United States to “maintain records of all imports and shipments of arms,” register the identity of the “end user” of those firearms and then report the user’s information to a U.N.-based gun registry. In several drafts, the treaty would have mandated that every round of ammunition be tracked globally.

What’s really ironic here is that the United States already has the most comprehensive system in the world for regulating international arms transfers. Other nations could achieve the stated goals of the treaty process by simply emulating our protocols. But the reality is that the treaty was actually intended as a mechanism to submit our unique Second Amendment guarantees to international inspection — and condemnation.

As I have mentioned, the treaty negotiations broke down this summer, and that is a good thing. But that doesn’t mean the U.N. is giving up the fight. It’s just reducing it into smaller pieces. In fact, in late August, an umbrella organization of 23 separate U.N. agencies, known as the Coordinating Action on Small Arms, adopted the first portion of International Small Arms Control Standards. The ISACS text is made up of 33 separate modules, some 800 pages in total. And they’re just getting started.

What can we do? We can ensure that we have a president who will not support the treaty and a Senate that will not ratify it. That’s not a one-time commitment. Remember that once a treaty is enacted, it can be picked up at any time by a president and Senate. There are smaller gun control treaties that have been floating around the Senate for ratification since 1998.

What can you do? You can make sure that you and every freedom-loving American you know is registered to vote. I’m proud to serve as the honorary chairman of Trigger The Vote, the National Rifle Association‘s nonpartisan campaign to register voters who support the Second Amendment. We’ve made it easy on our website; all the tools to register are there, at http://www.TriggerTheVote.org. If you’re already registered, you probably know someone who isn’t. Share the stakes with that person, and urge him or her to join the rolls of informed voters.

Throughout my life, I’ve been committed to preserving our freedom from threats, both foreign and domestic. This proposed U.N. global gun control treaty may not be an “invasion” in the classic sense of the word, but believe me; over time, it represents the potential for encroachment of the greatest kind. Protect your rights by registering to vote today.

The Year of the Tea Party Senators continues – Tea Party Nation.

Posted by Judson Phillips

We have called this year the year of the Tea Party Senator.  As we had conservatives sweep into the House in 2010, Tea Party Senators are set to sweep into the Senate this year and will change things up in Washington

 What is happening now?

 From the Daily Caller:

Ted Cruz now holds a solid 10-point lead over his opponent Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst heading into Tuesday’s Senate Republican primary.

A Public Policy Polling poll released Monday found the former Solicitor General, Cruz, with 52 percent support to Dewhurst’s 42 percent. The numbers show continuing momentum for Cruz, who two weeks ago led by half that margin: 49 percent to 44 percent.

Dewhurst will head into Tuesday already disadvantaged, as Cruz leads 55 percent to 40 percent among voters who cast a ballot during the past week in early voting. Unfortunately for him, Cruz also leads 49-44 among voters who plan to vote on Tuesday.

Cruz holds a whopping lead among the tea party, which has served as his base for much of the primary. He also leads among younger voters. Dewhurst leads among non-tea partiers and seniors.

The poll validates the Cruz campaign’s strategy of pushing for a run-off and winning in a midsummer, low-turn out race, where the candidate with the most enthusiastic supporters would be victorious. Indeed, “very excited” voters support Cruz over Dewhurst 63 percent to 33 percent, a group that composes 50 percent of Republicans, according to the poll.

Cruz has a smaller lead among “somewhat excited” voters. Dewhurst leads among the “not that excited” voters, but they compose only 21 percent of likely primary voters polled by PPP. And, as “not that excited” voters already lack enthusiasm, it’s possible they will not turnout to vote in the first place.

The race, which has attracted attention from conservatives nationwide, has also turned into something of a proxy way between two of the biggest names in Republican politics. Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Cruz, the poll finds, makes 31 percent of voters more likely to vote for him, while 24 percent are less likely.

The good news is we are sending some good conservatives to Washington.  When Cruz wins the primary tomorrow, he will effectively win the seat as Texas is a deep red state.  In Indiana, Richard Mourdock defeated the crown prince of the RINO’s, Richard Lugar and he does have an opponent in the fall election.  Joe Donnelly, a liberal Indiana Congressman who would have lost his reelection bid for Congress, is fighting for the Senate seat.  Mourdock should take that seat but it will not be as easy as Cruz’s general election battle.  In Nebraska, Deb Fischer is facing retread liberal Bob Kerry.  In Ohio, a great young conservative, Josh Mandel is taking on one of the worst members of the Senate, far left wing nut Sherrod Brown

The Senate is going to be different in January.  Not only will the Republicans take control but this Senate will be a more conservative Senate.

Hopefully a conservative Senate and a conservative House can save us from taxageddon, Obamacare and the damage done by the Party of Treason for the last four years.
