Conservative Consumers: Stand Your Ground - Michelle Malkin - Townhall Conservative Columnists

Who is Rashad Robinson? And why has his fringe, race-baiting organization been able to pressure several major corporations into abandoning a pro-limited-government legislative association — all for a few cheap social-justice brownie points?

Conservative consumers need to get informed, get active and stand their ground against free speech-squelching progressive activists who have demonized the American Legislative Exchange Council. This isn’t just a battle over ALEC. It’s a war against the left’s shakedown artists taking aim at our freedoms of speech and association.

ALEC, as I reported last week, is the four-decade-old policy organization of state legislators and like-minded business people who believe in “the Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism, and individual liberty.” They are under fire from a longstanding network of liberal groups — tied to the Democratic Party — that are unhappy with effective conservative opposition at the state and federal legislative levels.

Anti-ALEC hypocrites seized on the Trayvon Martin shooting case in Florida to blame ALEC and Republican lawmakers for their advocacy of Stand Your Ground self-defense legislation – even though the case does not implicate the policy and ALEC followed Florida’s lead on the legislation. Moreover, eight of the 15 states that have adopted such polices were helmed by Democratic governors at the time of passage.

Robinson is spearheading the anti-ALEC campaign, along with Soros-backed Progress Now and a Labor political action committee, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC). While they claim to oppose black “voter suppression” by working to undermine anti-voter fraud bills backed by ALEC, Color of Change‘s true agenda is to chill and suppress pro-capitalist, pro-Second Amendment, pro-low taxes and pro-law enforcement lobbying and legislating in the political marketplace.

Robinson is in charge of “Color of Change,” a radical activist group founded by disgraced 9/11 Truther, anti-police agitator, Occupy movement promoter and former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones. The group used Hurricane Katrina to condemn America as institutionally racist. Most shamefully, Jones and his fledgling group helped perpetuate director Spike Lee and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s wild conspiracy theories about government-engineered black genocide in New Orleans.

Before taking over Jones’ demagogue duties, Robinson previously lobbied for felon voting rights at the left-wing Soros family-backed Fair Vote. The group has repeatedly fought common-sense efforts to rein in voter fraud. Unsurprisingly, Robinson is close to the community organizer in chief’s administration. While media director at gay rights group GLAAD, Robinson traveled to Serbia in 2010 to officially represent the U.S. at a gay pride festival. He was invited by the Obama State Department, which sponsored the trip.

Robinson claims that his group has “more than 800,000 members” and “is the nation’s largest online civil rights group.” The numbers, however, don’t add up. The Color of Change Twitter account has fewer than 14,600 followers. Robinson himself, acclaimed by leftists as a new media guru, has a measly 1,400 followers after three years on the premiere social networking platform.

But the foot soldiers of radical organizer Saul Alinsky know how to conjure up facades and false narratives. Over the past several weeks, Robinson has released a series of press releases claiming mass victories in the Color of Change campaign to boycott ALEC. The bulletins are being dutifully regurgitated by sympathetic journalists such as National Public Radio’s Peter Overby — a former staffer at the anti-ALEC group Common Cause, a fact that he failed to disclose to radio listeners in at least two recent hit pieces on ALEC.

Color of Change’s corporate appeasers include McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Mars Inc., Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, Intuit, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Reed Elsevier (owner of LexisNexis), American Traffic Solutions and Arizona Public Service. This week, Robinson also claimed that Yum Brands and Procter and Gamble had dropped their memberships as a result of “hundreds” of Color of Change phone calls.

On Tuesday, I called Procter and Gamble and asked them how many phone calls they received. Company spokeswoman Christine Wever refused to answer. I asked whether the company had met at any time over the past year with Color of Change or any other protest group regarding their specific complaints about ALEC. Wever refused to answer.

I also called the media office at Yum Brands several times with the same questions. No response by end of business Tuesday.

It’s not enough for conservative consumers to avoid cowardly businesses that cave to Van Jones and company. Beating back the anti-ALEC mob means getting ahead of them. Color of Change and its “hundreds” of callers are now pressuring State Farm and Johnson and Johnson to join the spineless herd and cut ties to ALEC.

I’ll say it again: Silence is complicity. Speak now or surrender your ground.

OWS: Don’t Drink the Kool-Aid! – Patriot Update.

by Ann-Marie Murrell

He was all about “the People” and began his career as a community organizer.

He despised capitalism and gathered the trust of the poor and oppressed by claiming he was a religious man; only after establishing their devotion did he admit he was an atheist.

He was lauded by Democrat politicians and dignitaries including California Governor Jerry Brown, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Walter Mondale, gay activist Harvey Milk and former first lady Rosalynn Carter—all of whom either gave or attended testimonial dinners for him.

He claimed in a sermon that Jesus was a communist.

He was the friend of most of the United States worldwide enemies, including the Nation of Islam, communist leaders, dictators and terrorists like Angela Davis.  He was once described as a combination of “Martin King, Angela Davis, Albert Einstein…ChairmanMao.”

He was an excellent fundraiser and collected money from people throughout the United States.

He hired media specialists to dispute any negative allegations made against him, including rumors that he had a homosexual affair.

He idolized Mao Zedong and carefully studied how he was able to overthrow the Chinese government.

The most famous phrase attributed to his legacy is:  “Don’t drink the Kool-aid.”

No, he’s not Van Jones, Barack Obama or any number of progressives in America today; his name is Jim Jones, founder of the Peoples Temple and the leader of one of the largest mass-suicides in history.

Jim Jones was obsessed with creating a ‘socialistic utopia’ in America and he realized the easiest way to manipulate the masses was by infiltrating religion.

He began his own church, originally calling it the Peoples Temple Christian Church Full Gospel.  At a time when segregation was still occurring in America, Jones’ church was inter-racial and attracted thousands of poor and disadvantaged people.

After Jones was given tax-exemption status for his Peoples Temple church, he began openly telling outsiders that he was an atheist and communist.  He admitted in an article that he had learned the way to achieve social change through Marxism in the United States was to “mobilize people through religion.”

“How can I demonstrate my Marxism? The thought was, infiltrate the church,” Jones said.

In one of his California sermons, Jones said, “If you’re born in capitalist America, racist America, fascist America, then you’re born in sin. But if you’re born in socialism, you’re not born in sin.”

Jim Jones’ ultimate goal—much like what the people of Occupy Wall Street are saying–was to create a ‘socialist utopia’ in the U.S. but when he realized that wasn’t going to happen, he moved to a strip of land in Guyana which he renamed “Jonestown”.

Everything came crashing down when Jones learned that California Congressman Leo Ryan was coming to Guyana to investigate Jonestown for possible human rights violations.   Jones ordered some of his followers to murder Rep. Ryan, three journalists and a defecting Temple member in an ambush on a Port Kaituma airstrip.

Backed into a corner, the master manipulator convinced his followers to participate in a “revolutionary suicide” by drinking cyanide-laced grape Flavor-Aide.  Jones had borrowed the term by Black Panther leader and Peoples Temple supporter Huey Newton who said, “the slow suicide of life in the ghetto ought to be replaced by revolutionary struggle that would end only in victory (socialism and self determination) or revolutionary suicide (death).”

On November 18, 1978, 909 inhabitants of Jonestown, 303 of them children, were found dead in and around a pavilion, including Jones who had died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

The Jonestown suicides were the greatest single loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the 9/11 attacks.

“We didn’t commit suicide; we committed an act of revolutionary suicide protesting the conditions of an inhumane world,” Jones said in a tape recording made during the event.

In 2010 Jim Jones’ adopted son, Jim Jones, Jr. was on the Oprah Winfrey show.  He said, “I’m part of an organization that tried to build a new world.  Nine hundred people died, and I miss them every day. But I also recognize that they tried.  They tried something—they failed horrifically—but they tried, and out of that, I’ve taken a lot of pride to realize that I’m Jim Jones Jr.  I can’t hide from that.”

2011, Occupy Wall Street quotes:

“There’s a lot of different kinds of people here who want to shift the paradigm to something that’s addressing the huge gap between the rich and the poor.” Susan Sarandon

“You’re talking about raising political consciousness so it spills over all parts of the country…in the end we’re really talking about what Martin King would call a revolution: A transfer of power from oligarchs to everyday people of all colors. And that is a step by step process.” Princeton University religion professor Dr. Cornel West

“We’re here to give everything from the people from whom you stole everything.”  Van Jones

“Let the ruling classes tremble at a communist revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Workingmen of all countries, unite!”  Karl Marx

Mr. Green Jobs Boondoggle Rides Again – Michelle Malkin – Townhall Conservative

Mr. Green Jobs Boondoggle Rides Again – Michelle Malkin – Townhall Conservative.

Van Jones, President Obama’s disgraced green jobs czar, is back with a radical progressive plan to rescue America … from his old boss.

The problem, posits Jones, is that his fellow community organizer in the White House hasn’t spent enough, regulated enough or taxed enough to achieve their perverse version of the “American Dream.” What the country needs to “get the economy back on track,” according to Jones and his league of leftists, is more government-created make-work. Oh, and a hefty side of Big Labor pork.

Jones recently teamed up with George Soros-funded retread, Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, the AFL-CIO and Service Employees International Union to launch a “Rebuild the Dream” movement. Borrowing a yellowed page from has-been GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Jones and Company this week released their own “contract” to solve the “jobs crisis.” The top two agenda items in this not-so-new contract echo Obama’s longstanding calls for: 1) multibillion-dollar “investments” in America’s infrastructure (see my column last week on the White House’s renewed push for a government-supported infrastructure bank) and 2) “21st-century energy jobs” (which Obama claims he is creating this week by forcing tightened fuel efficiency standards down automakers’ throats).

The supposedly visionary document is a carbon copy of standard Democratic talking points. It’s the same old, same old with a dash of Jones’ swagger on top for flavor.

Jones’ Contract for the American Dream laments: “Our workers are sitting idle, while the work of rebuilding America goes undone.” Obama issued the same lament last September: “It doesn’t do anybody any good when so many hardworking Americans have been idled for months, even years, at a time when there is so much of America that needs rebuilding.”

But the AFL-CIO and SEIU bigwigs to whom both Jones and Obama are beholden stubbornly oppose putting a vast population of hardworking, nonunion Americans back to work. Keep in mind: Through anti-competitive “project labor agreements” enforced by White House executive order, private contractors bidding on public infrastructure projects are required to hand over exclusive bargaining control; to pay inflated, above-market wages and benefits; and to fork over dues money and pension funding to corrupt, cash-starved labor organizations. These PLAs undermine a fair bidding process on projects that locked-out, nonunion laborers are funding with their own tax dollars. And they benefit the privileged few at the expense of the vast majority: In the construction industry, 85 percent of the workforce is nonunion by choice.

And remember this: While Jones and his union pals talk a lofty game about protecting American workers and creating American jobs, they march in lockstep with the open-borders lobby and promoters of another blanket illegal alien amnesty. The SEIU, one of Jones’ most powerful Contract for the American Dream co-sponsors, continues to push for the DREAM Act illegal alien student bailout, opposes enforcement of employer sanctions and brazenly recruits illegal alien workers/voters to its ranks.

As for the green jobs racket, gobs of Obama money has already been spent on them — and unemployment has continued to hover near double digits. Jones’ pipe dream jobs would be better dubbed “brown jobs” to reflect the color of the sewer down which untold millions have been flushed in the name of environmental stimulus salvation. There’s also a distinctly blue tint to these supposedly eco-friendly green jobs. Blue, that is, for partisan Democratic agendas and allies. Federal green jobs funds have subsidized, among others, the SEIU’s nationalized health care activists in Maryland, the UAW Labor Employment and Training Corporation, the Blue Green Alliance (a union conglomerate), the 1199 SEIU Family of Funds and a United Steelworkers front group, the Institute for Career Development.

The Contract for the American Dream is a contract for continued wealth redistribution from taxpayers to Democratic special interests from a failed prophet of green jobs boondogglery. Sound familiar? Van Jones may have left Washington, but his spirit, alas, is alive and well in his mentor’s nightmare policies.

Social Justice: Obama & The Left’s Not-So-Hidden Agenda – Tea Party Nation

Social Justice: Obama & The Left’s Not-So-Hidden Agenda – Tea Party Nation.

I consulted my Thesaurus because I thought I have been over working the word “despicable” in my articles. However, my research confirmed the word best describes what passes for the modern civil rights movement and Obama administration.

I watched a video in which Al Sharpton concluded MLK fought for social justice. He mischaracterized Dr King’s dream saying it was to make everything equal in everybody’s house. Sharpton said MLK did not fight simply to put one black family in the White House.

MLK was a Republican. And yet, Al Sharpton addressed a congregation of ill-informed blacks, lying to them about MLK’s mission. Sharpton thrives on keeping racial tension, suspicion and hate alive.

To maintain relevance and his cherished seat of power at the Democratic Party round table, Sharpton must continue to deliver a mind numb monolithic black vote; proving himself to be an asset to the furtherance of their social justice agenda. Thus, Sharpton’s hatred of successful conservative blacks such as I. We threaten his gig.

Ironically, Sharpton is guilty of betraying his race, the very crime of which he accuses black conservatives. Imagine the cruelty of not only allowing a person to believe, but reinforcing the lie that the individual is a pauper, all the while seeing a thousand dollar bill in the hopeless person’s back pocket unknown to him or her.

This is what Sharpton does to black America when he preaches that they are not equal, while in realty, they are extraordinarily blessed to live in the greatest land of opportunity on the planet for ALL who choose to go for it. Despicable!

Then, there is former Obama administration Green Jobs Adviser Van Jones. Jones is another strong advocate for social justice. Incredibly, this man truly believes fairness is government making everyone’s life equal.

Jones was forced to resign when Glenn Beck and others raised heck. However, Obama would not have appointed the anti-traditional America radical socialist in the first place unless he agreed with Jones. My fellow Americans, we’re in deep trouble.

Patriots, the concept of social justice (government making everyone’s life equal) is insane, absurd and evil. It completely nullifies the human spirit, ambition, freedom to be all one can be and American Exceptionalism; all the things which have made America great.

In typical mindless “make himself feel good” fashion, a lib once told me, “Everyone deserves to live in a mansion”. While sounding compassionate, his statement is idiotic.

When I was 9 years old, my family moved into a brand new government funded housing project; an eleven story building. As per my recollection, most residents trashed the building. Only a hand full displayed gratitude, pride of ownership and respect for their homes. Poverty minded “gimme” parasites would turn a mansion into a ghetto.

As I said, the concept of social justice, government attempting to manufacture equal overcomes, is totally un-American and just plain nuts. And yet, this is obviously Obama’s agenda.

And, what does the first black president do to begin implementing his social justice utopia? The thug who thinks he is king divisively, irresponsibly and mercilessly drags all opposition out into the public square and brands them racist. Despicable!

Please take a moment to comprehend the extreme consequence of Obama’s promise to “fundamentally transform America”. Think of the unmitigated gall and arrogance in his statement.

Who the heck is Obama to change the vision of our Founding Fathers and shred our Constitution which has made us the most powerful, successful and altruistic nation on the planet in only 235 years. How dare Obama conclude America needs a fundamental transformation. Patriots, where is the outrage?

No one has asked, “Mr president, you vowed to fundamentally transform America. But, into what?”

And We Wonder – Tea Party Nation

And We Wonder – Tea Party Nation.

Liberal economist Robert Reich is all over the internet these days explaining that our economic problems would end if banks extended more credit to Americans of modest means. There’s the path to prosperity – take on more debt.

And Congress has recently moved to legalize internet gambling in order to generate government revenue. Debt and gambling – this plan gets better.

A liberal friend sent me a link to a piece that advocated mandatory unionization of all working Americans. Debt, gambling, and unions – because it worked so well in Detroit.

President Obama finally got into the debt ceiling negotiations this week, demanding $600 billion in new taxes. Debt, gambling, unions, and taxes – that’ll put the “gee” in GDP!

And he proposed a standard for fuel efficiency that no car can meet. Debt, gambling, unions, taxes, and no driving – look out, China! We’re back!

The President also announced some convoluted public/private partnership with 11 of our largest corporations. Here’s how it works: we give them billions to invent things we don’t want and they take it. Debt, gambling, unions, taxes, no driving, and malinvestment – heart, heart, smiley, winkey, LOL, whatever that stuff means.

What else…oh, yeah, he wants to get rid of ATMs. Debt, gambling, unions, taxes, no driving, malinvestment, and no cash. I’m thinking Nobel Prize #2.

Treasury Secretary Geithner said we must shrink the private sector in order to grow the public sector. Debt, gambling, unions, taxes, no driving, malinvestment, no cash, and more government. Take that, Arthur Laffer!

And finally, ex-czar Van Jones is back in the news, announcing the country is not broke because you still have some money; he is forming his own Tea Party to take it from you. So there’s the whole plan – debt, gambling, unions, taxes, no driving, malinvestments, no cash, and communism.

And we wonder why our economy is in the ditch.

These are the same guys who tell us we need to increase the debt ceiling. They want us to co-sign for a few trillion of new loans so can keep spending money they don’t have on things we don’t need. And their plan to pay it back? Debt, gambling, unions, taxes, no driving, malinvestments, no cash, and more government.

Not only does this insanity make sense to liberal economists, but they warn that if we don’t let them borrow more money, there will be bad consequences. Really? Worse than the collapse of the dollar and interest rates with a comma in them? Here’s a consequence, Mr. Bernanke: everything you have tried has failed; go lay by your dish.

Van Jones is half-right. The nation is not broke; it is our government that is broke. Not because we don’t give them enough money; we will give them $2.6 trillion this year. It is because the twitterin’ wieners on Capitol Hill spend $1.4 trillion more than that. If we gave them $10 trillion they would spend $15 trillion – and it would still be still be your fault that kids can’t read. Because you are a greedy racist, that’s why.

There is no reason to pass another debt ceiling authorization; we already have one. And if the one we have doesn’t mean anything, then why bother with another one?

On second thought, Van Jones is right – the federal government is not broke, it owns almost $6 trillion of land. Put it on E-bay, with no reserve. Can’t bear to part with it? My son didn’t want to sell his Mustang dragster either, but he had bills to pay. Man up, Geithner.

If the IRS can force Green Bay Packer legend Fuzzy Thurston to sell his Super Bowl ring to pay his debts, we can sure as hell force President Obama to sell off a few million acres to cover his golfing and Michelle’s trips to Africa and the lunacy that is the Obama EPA.

So what will you give up, Mr. President – trees or tree-huggers? You’re pro-choice, so make one. And leave our old Packers alone, you heartless Bear-loving Blagonad.
