Just in case you were not aware, there are massive double standards for the government.  It is very Orwellian as all are equal, but some are more equal than others.

 What has happened now that shows in the eyes of our government, some are more equal than others?

 Floyd Corkins, the man who shot and wounded a guard at the Family Research Council last week and but for the heroism guard, probably would have committed a mass murder, has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Washington.

 He’s been indicted for Interstate Transportation of a Firearm and Ammunition, assault with intent to commit murder while armed and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

 Corkins went to the FRC, started shooting and when he was stopped, he begged not to be shot saying that he had nothing against the individuals, but he did not like the politics of the FRC. 

 In other words, he attacked the people at the FRC because they are conservative Christians.  Floyd Corkins was not indicted for a hate crime.

 Gee, if a Christian had attacked a gay group based on his dislike of their politics and their opinions, do you have any doubt that there would be a hate crime charge?

 Hate crimes are reserved for the favored political groups.   In America, there is a concept called equal justice.  You can be the richest man or woman in the county, the state or the nation and you are treated the same as the poorest man or woman.  You can be the most hated and despised man or woman in the nation and you get a fair trial.   You can be a totally disgusting individual but if you are the victim of a crime and the police can catch the perpetrator of the crime, you get your day in court, just as if you were the President of the United States.

 This is no longer true.  Thanks to the hate crimes statutes, we have separate and unequal justice.  If you are deemed to be a member of a special group, you get special protections.  If you are not, then you do not. 

 Why did Corkins go to the FRC with 15 Chick-Fil-A bags in his backpack other than to send a message when he killed those people? 

 So the message from the Obama Regime is clear.  If you are a victim of a crime, you are equal but there are some victims who are more equal and who will get better justice

FRC shooting highlights Heller’s fight for concealed-carry rights in D.C.

Liberals are anxious to talk about workplace or school shootings when it suits their political agenda. That’s why the usual suspects are observing a vow of silence regarding Wednesday’s armed attack on the Family Research Council (FRC). This incident puts the debate over the right to bear arms in the District of Columbia into the spotlight.

The nation’s capital maintains an all-out ban on open or concealed carry of any firearm, as it refuses to recognize the Second Amendment right to bear arms outside the home. The deranged shooter at FRC knew he was entering a gun-free zone. The security guard there, Leonardo Johnson, didn’t have the “special police” commission authorizing him to use a gun on the job. As a result, he was shot in the arm as he successfully thwarted what could have been a deadly assault on the pro-family group.

Dick Heller, the District’s most famous security guard, said he thinks Washington’s gun laws made the FRC incident especially dangerous. “Any security guard anywhere else in the country — where we have 49 states that have concealed carry — that security guard could have been carrying,” Mr. Heller told The Washington Times. “If this shooter would have pulled what he did in Maryland, they would have taken him out in a body bag.”

Mr. Heller does have the certification allowing him to carry a firearm lawfully while on the job protecting a downtown office building, but that wasn’t enough. A decade ago, he launched his fight for the right to keep a gun at home, taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court.

In 2008, Mr. Heller won, ending the 30-year handgun ban in the nation’s capital. While the Heller decision forced Washington to recognize the constitutional right to keep arms, it didn’t deal with the right to bear arms outside the home.

The Second Amendment activist didn’t rest on this high-court victory. His ongoing “Heller 2” case challenges the constitutionality of the District’s mandatory firearm-registration law. In October 2011, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit decided the burdensome requirements are valid only if the District presents “some meaningful evidence, not mere assertions, to justify” them.

The D.C. Council amended its ordinances in May to ease the registration process. Mr. Heller’s attorney, Richard Gardiner, said a new complaint has been filed in the case and is awaiting the District’s response.

Mr. Heller is also working on “Heller 3” to push for concealed-carry rights in Washington. He sent a letter to Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier informing her he intends “to conceal carry this firearm when I’m off duty on the streets at midnight.” His shift runs from 4 p.m. to midnight.

Violent crime in Washington is up 10 percent over last year, proving that disarming law-abiding citizens hasn’t deterred any criminals. D.C. residents shouldn’t have to wait for unelected judges to force the city to respect the Constitution. The city council should grant carry rights now.

Time to derail Amtrak’s $7.5 billion Union Station face-lift

Government waste is so prevalent that it rarely comes as a surprise. Bureaucrats partying at public expense, inefficient labor-union contracts and massive cost overruns are the natural consequence of giving civil servants the ability to spend money earned by others. Amtrak wants to take waste to new heights. On July 25, the government railroad service proposed to give Washington’s historic Union Station a $7.5 billion face-lift. And that’s before the budget goes off the rails.

Apparently, no expense is to be spared if it furthers the Obama administration’s high-speed-rail scheme. “Today’s plan ensures that Union Station will continue to serve as the gateway to our nation’s capital, providing growing numbers of passengers with even greater transportation options,” Deputy Secretary of Transportation John D. Porcari said upon the proposal’s announcement. “The Department of Transportation is committed to Union Station’s future, both as an important part of the local economy and of the president’s vision for a revitalized Northeast Corridor.”

This $7.5 billion won’t build a wholly new station; it merely will add a bit of additional capacity to the existing location. There will be new passenger concourses, wider platforms for stepping off the train, a few new street entrances and a shopping area that will be built over the tracks. It’s a “visionary and practical approach to revitalize the terminal” that will take from 15 to 20 years to complete.

To the delight of Washington’s car-hating liberal establishment, the plan includes bulldozing the existing Union Station parking structure — one of the cheapest and most reliable places to park for an hour or two in the city. The liberals have been itching to replace it with an expanse of modernist glass architecture, destroying the beauty of the existing station’s classic lines, which were drawn by architect Daniel Burnham in 1903.

Amtrak claims the renovation will stimulate $15 billion in gross regional product over the next couple of decades. Given government rail’s profitless track record, such predictions are wishful thinking. As House Transportation Committee Chairman John L. Mica, Florida Republican, artfully pointed out Thursday, Amtrak can’t even sell a hamburger without taking a loss. In 10 years of selling food and beverages on its choo-choos, Amtrak has racked up a staggering $833 million loss.

As Mr. Mica explained, McDonald’s can sell a hamburger for $1, but Amtrak needs to sell it for $9.50. Yet even that inflated amount can’t cover the staggering $16.15 per-burger cost to taxpayers.

This is all to say it’s not a surprise that Amtrak and the Obama administration could conceive of a train-station rehabilitation with double the price tag of the Freedom Tower in New York City. It will cost $3.8 billion to construct that hub of commerce standing 1,776 feet tall out of the rubble of the World Trade Center. The contrast is poignant. One project is a symbol of America’s determination to succeed; the other is a symbol of the audacity of waste.

If we say government stupidity are we being redundant?  Is there any other word we can use to describe the government that is not some variation of stupid?

 There is one government idea that may not be winner for the dumbest government idea of all time, but it certainly rates an honorable mention.

 What is it?

 It is the idea of HOV lanes.

 HOV lanes have got to be one of the dumbest ideas of all time.  The first and quite possibly the worst HOV lane in the world has to be 395 in Washington DC.    Washington’s traffic is a legendary nightmare and if you are as ADD as I am, getting trapped in it is like the 7th circle of hell.

 Yesterday, I got stuck for two hours in HOV hell. 

 I flew back from Wisconsin into Reagan National.  My flight landed at 3:30 PM and I was able to quickly get my car and escape.  By 3:45 I was on the interstate.  By 5:45 I had gone all of twenty miles. 

 The theory of HOV lanes is that during rush hour, the only cars that can go in the HOV lane are those with two or more passengers.  In DC, it is three or more.  DC has a long, straight, separate and mostly unused HOV lane.  While I sat in traffic purgatory, moving at a rate that could be measured at inches per hour, in the HOV lane, an occasional car buzzed on down the mostly empty road.

 The idea with forcing people to use carpooling is to reduce the amount of gas that we use.  This was one of the bad ideas that came out of the 70’s.  It is also proof that no matter how bad an idea is, once the government creates it, it will continue to grow like a really bad case of flesh eating bacteria.  Of course, dealing with flesh eating bacteria is much more pleasant that dealing with the government. 

 Washington is now working on an even bigger HOV lane so that even more drivers will not use it during rush hour.

 Has it occurred to the brain donors that run Washington that by creating massive traffic jams, all that is happening is that while the few people in the HOV lanes are using less gas, many more people are using a lot more gas in stop and start traffic?  Has it ever occurred them that if they just opened up all of those lanes, more people would move faster and less gas would be used?

 Of course not.  That requires the ability to think which is something our elected officials and government bureaucrats mostly lack. 

 We complain about elected officials with room temperature IQ’s.    Some of the people enacting our laws don’t hit the charts high enough to thaw ice.   I am beginning to believe it is a requirement for Federal candidates, at least in the blue states that when they file their qualifying papers they must sign a statement that says, “I certify under penalty of perjury that I am a complete moron!”

 Unfortunately the HOV lanes are just a symptom of what we see with government.  It continues to grow out of control.   Even with Republicans in charge of the government, government grows.

 When will this insanity stop?

 We the people do not want to drive in HOV lanes so we don’t.  Our elected officials do not get the message.  We the people do not want these crappy hybrid cars.  We do not want the green boondoggles. 

 We have massive numbers of government programs that are either complete failures, total wastes of money or just blatant attempts to buy votes. 

 When will we the people stand up and say enough?

 Plato is quoted as saying, “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”

 Plato was wrong.  We have smart people involved in politics and we are still governed by our inferiors.   They are called Congress.

Is anyone else tired of these idiot liberals?  Michael Bloomberg is one of the worst.  He does not believe Americans should have their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

 Now, he does not even like self-defense.

 From Politico:

 The so-called Stand Your Ground self-defense laws in Florida and some other states amount to “a license to murder” and an excuse for “vigilante justice,” New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg charged Wednesday.

 “The laws are not the kind of laws a civilized society should have and the [National Rifle Association] should be ashamed of themselves,” Bloomberg, a leading gun-control advocate, said at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. “This has nothing to do with gun-owners’ rights. This has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.”

 “Plain and simple, this is just trying to give people a license to murder,” he added of the Stand Your Ground laws.

 The laws are enacted in roughly two-dozen states but have been under intense scrutiny since the death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black Florida teen, whose shooter, neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, claimed self-defense.


 Perhaps Bloomberg should shut up and worry about what is going on in New York City. 

 At least ten states have “Stand your ground” laws.

 In 2010, there were 866 murders in New York City.   In 2011, in Nashville, Tennessee, a state that has a stand your ground law, there were only 51 murders.    How many of us feel safer in Nashville than New York City?

 In 2010, while there were 866 murders in New York City, a Second Amendment free zone, there were 18 murders in Orlando Florida.  Where would you rather be?  Orlando Florida or New York City?

 In Texas, which has a stand your ground law, in the city of Dallas, in 2010 there were only 148 murders, while in Michael Bloomberg’s socialist paradise, there were 866.

 There is a recurring theme here. Contrary to what Michael Bloomberg says, the Second Amendment and Stand Your Ground laws help protect citizens.

 In the Constitution free zone that is New York City, crime abounds.    Liberals really are crazy.  It does not matter how many times their ideas fail, they insist on trying the same thing over and over again.  Isn’t that the definition of insanity.

 Before the District of Columbia v. Heller case, Washington DC had some of the most stringent gun control laws.  It also had one of the highest homicide rates.  After the Heller case and Washington’s gun control laws were declared unconstitutional, shockingly enough Washington’s crime rate plummeted.

 In short, like every other liberal, Bloomberg ignores the facts lest they interfere with his preconceived notions.  We can only hope the people of New York City will replace this clown with someone who actually respects the Constitution and the Constitutional Rights of American citizens.

Marion Barry’s mouth set him up. The disgraced former mayor of Washington, D.C., who was caught on tape in a 1987 crack cocaine sting, made an even bigger disgrace of himself and his city on Tuesday. Celebrating a Democratic primary victory, the city councilman attacked small businesses owned by “Asians” in his district. Then the race-baiting clown doubled down.

Barry told supporters in D.C.’s Ward 8: “We got to do something about these Asians coming in and opening up businesses and dirty shops. They ought to go.” Once pushed out, Barry promised, he would replace the foreign invaders with “African-American business people.” Barry then took to the social networking platform Twitter to expound on the perils of “dirty” Asian shops in his neighborhood.

As documented by my Twitter curation start-up, Barry posted photos of supposedly hazardous stores — including Chinese restaurants surrounded not by trash or toxic waste, but by Plexiglas barriers and reinforced doors. Barry explained that Asian-owned businesses that had the audacity to protect themselves from crime were “lowering standards” in his constituents’ communities.

In Barry’s bizarre world, law-abiding entrepreneurs who take steps to prevent robberies are the ones who threaten Ward 8’s quality of life — not the armed thugs who threaten honest livelihoods in the first place. Vigilant wealth creators taking care of their families? Scourge of D.C. Profanity-spewing drug addicts inciting hatred against successful achievers of the American Dream? Model citizens!

Crazy Barry doesn’t just need another round of rehab. He needs a reality check.

As a commenter on noted, 2010 Census data showed that “Asians made up 0.4 percent of the Ward 8 population (blacks made up 93.5 percent, a 1 percent increase from 2000). If anything, Asians are moving out, not in — the Asian population decreased 13.6 percent (from 301 people to 260 people) between 2000 and 2010. Meanwhile, the child poverty rate in Ward 8 sits at 48.3 percent, a 1.2 percent increase since 2000 — in contrast, the District’s overall child poverty rate decreased 3 percent since 2000. Now that’s what I call defying the odds.”

If Barry’s ignorant slurs had come out of the mouth of, say, former GOP Gov. George Allen of Virginia (pummeled for his “macaca” gaffe), there would be calls for his head from every civil rights organization in the Beltway. While the Washington Post reported that Barry “apologized,” he showed typical fake penitence for “offending” Asians and claimed he was “taken out of context.”

By “Asian,” he blubbered to a local TV reporter, he didn’t mean “Asian.” He really meant all “those persons (who) come into our community, whatever color they are; it happened to be Asian initially.” Put the prejudice pipe down, buddy.

        Instead of showing true remorse, Barry dug in deeper with even more divisive, entitled and militant us vs. them propaganda: “We’re spending our money there, and we demand respect,” he told the Washington Post. “We demand they participate in community affairs. We demand they give jobs to Ward 8 people regardless of their cultural situation. That’s as American as apple pie.”

Spoken like a true racial racketeer.

But Barry’s not alone. His incendiary rhetoric echoes other liberal black leaders who have long made a sport of scapegoating Asian immigrant entrepreneurs across the country. Just this February, Jeffery Muhammad, the veteran Nation of Islam leader in Dallas, lashed out at Asian-American business owners for being “just the latest in a long line of people who have come to this country — like Jews, Italians, Indians and now Asians — who have sucked the blood of and exploited the black community.”

Just a fringe sentiment, you say?

Rapper Ice Cube, now a mainstream actor and comedian, penned “Black Korea” to demonize Korean store owners in South Central Los Angeles:

So they watch every damn move that I make.

They hope I don’t pull out a gat and try to rob

they funky little store, but b***h, I got a job.

… So don’t follow me, up and down your market,

or your little chop suey ass’ll be a target

of the nationwide boycott.

And Al Sharpton, now a prominent MSNBC host, was caught on tape stoking hatred against Chinese-owned chicken restaurants and Korean grocers:

“We’re the black chicken friers of the universe. We gonna go buy some Col. Sanders chicken. Then the Chinamen comin’ and (inaudible) … Koreans sell us watermelons. We eat watermelons all our lives. But they gonna come cut it up, put it in a bucket with a rubber band around it, and we gonna buy it like it’s somethin’ and we didn’t know what it was.”

Few dare to call out black racism against Asians. Those who do are met with nasty racial epithets, of course. Last year, when I called attention to flash mobs of black assailants in Denver, Wisconsin, Philadelphia and New York who were explicitly targeting Asian students and elderly Asian women for brutal assaults, my e-mail box filled with vitriol:


“(D)oes your family still live in poverty? Not anymore, since you married into the tribe ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME GI.”

“Shut up whore.”

President Obama, commander-in-chief of post-racial America, was unavailable for comment.

What are the ramifications if the Supreme Court finds the individual mandate provision of Obamacare unconstitutional? This is the provision that requires individuals to purchase government defined health insurance or pay a fine.

I hope it will serve as a wake up call to a nation that I believe is still sleeping through a crisis.

Liberal and open ended interpretation of the Constitution, to the point of rendering it practically meaningless, opened the door to steady growth of the federal government and its inexorable encroachment in our lives over the last half century. The problems we are having today all originate here.

Even if Obamacare is repealed, we still have a major problem in healthcare. Costs keep escalating because there is no real, functioning marketplace in healthcare. Ninety percent of healthcare expenditures are made by third parties – government, employers, insurance companies. All due to direct or indirect government controls.

Our growing burden of taxes and government debt – what now is breaking European countries and about to break us – all stem from the growth of government programs that open ended interpretation of the constitution enabled.

Our private economy, where freedom and the creative spirit are still allowed to operate, is going great.

A miracle is taking place in energy with new domestic production of oil and gas made possible by new drilling technologies.

Oil imports as a percentage of our overall domestic oil consumption has dropped almost 25 percent just since 2005. In North Dakota, where much of this new oil production is happening, production has increased from 10,000 barrels a day in 2003 to 400,000 barrels a day.

Natural gas production has increased 26 percent since 2005. This is producing prices in the United States for natural gas that are the lowest in the world. As result, according to University of Michigan economist Mark Perry, firms that use natural gas, like chemical and fertilizer businesses, are actively talking about returning to the United States.

New technologies abound, with more and more gadgets appearing all the time at lower and lower prices.

Computer equipment that cost $1,000 in 1997 today would sell for about $65, Perry calculated.

So why are we turning more and more of our lives over to the most unproductive, least efficient part of our country – government?

Just over the last four years, government spending has increased to take 25 percent of the American economy from 20 percent.

The result is the most sluggish economic recovery since the great depression. It is a sign of the depressed spirit of the American people that it is actually viewed as good news that unemployment is now 8.3 percent. This is almost two and half points higher than the average unemployment rate in our country from 1948 to 2010.

But while we suffer, Washington parties.

While the national unemployment rate is 8.3 percent, it’s 5.5 percent in Washington, DC.

According to demographer Joel Kotkin, 2.7 percent population growth in Washington, DC in 2011 was the highest in the nation.

He reports that the economy in the national capital region expanded 14 percent since 2007.

Over the last decade, 50,000 new jobs in the federal government bureaucracy were created, along with an increase in local federal spending of 166 percent.

No wonder in a survey just released by Gallup, residents of Washington, DC expressed the highest level of confidence in the U.S. economy in the nation.

Isn’t it time to turn this around? Why are Americans still tolerating this?

If we are going to get the nation back on track, we’ve got to get our resources out of Washington and back into the private sector where they can be used creatively and productively. This is how to create jobs.

Are Washington DC politicians absolutely sure that they want to make the US Constitution null and void? If the US Constitution is null and void, then so is the union of states that it created, as that fragile union of sovereign states was very carefully ratified via a very specific and carefully crafted balance of power between the federal government and the states.

If the federal government continues to breech that compact without remedy, the union of states expires with the Constitution itself and it is every man for himself at that point. Are DC elitists ready for what comes with the decimation of the US Constitution and the union of states it created?

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” 

This is the sole purpose of the US Constitution. No constitution, no union…

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” 

The United States of America is a union of fifty sovereign states. That union is established by, and conditioned upon, the Law of the Land, the terms and conditions of the US Constitution. Without the US Constitution, there is no union of fifty sovereign states – there can be no United States of America. The people and the states have the right and the duty to protect and preserve liberty at all cost, and to force the Federal Government if necessary, to live within Constitutional boundaries, or abolish this runaway government and start all over again.

Are corrupt DC elitists certain that they want to toy with the American people and the US Constitution, rendering the document nothing more than a relic from history and placing at risk, the union of states it establishes?

The Federal commitment to Global Governance and UN Agenda 21 taken under the Clinton Administration in September of 2000 and followed by every administration since, is a direct violation of everything the US Constitution and fifty state constitutions stand for… it cannot be allowed to continue.

The 9th Amendment gives the people the right to reject unconstitutional acts by the Federal Government and the 10th Amendment gives the states the same power.

The notion that the Federal Government can make up the Law of the Land at will via executive, judicial or legislative fiat, is insane on its face. The idea that the people are limited to the voting booth or a federal courtroom as their only remedy for a runaway federal government is equally insane.

If the 9th and 10th Amendments no longer stand, then the entire Constitution is null and void and the union of fifty sovereign states is also instantly voided. Before we dissolve this union and institute new government, laying its foundations upon that which will guarantee every citizen and state freedom and liberty, sovereignty and security, we must make every effort to save this union by re-establishing the balance of power at the foundation of the Constitution.

We shall not allow the US Constitution and the union it forms to perish without a fight.

Global Governance my eye! The United States of America is ONE NATION, Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for ALL. It is so, because the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights say so. Destroy that at the expense of the union itself!

Who are Bill Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama to say otherwise? Temporary residents of the people’s White House come and go. Freedom and Liberty are forever, because the American people say so and the American people are the final word on the subject.

State governments can stop the next Civil War by standing up and keeping their oath to respect, protect and preserve the US Constitution and force the Federal Government to live within the confines of that compact. They can do this by simply passing the Balance of Powers Act in their state and rejecting all “unconstitutional acts” of the federal government at the state line.

Or, they can sit on their hands, remain part of the problem and wait for the next Civil War to begin.

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution;” – Article VI

According to Article VI of the US Constitution, every elected lawmaker and law enforcement officer in this country has the power and the duty to support, protect and defend the US Constitution and the Representative Republic it forms. No excuse from federal or state lawmakers or employees is good enough. It is time for true patriots to stand and be counted.

The Constitution prohibits any form of global governance, national or international dictatorship, or socialist experiment, be it democratically elected or not. The states must act or the people will have no peaceful alternatives.

Either way, freedom and liberty will be protected and preserved. The States can do it peacefully or the people will do it by whatever means necessary. The Second Amendment exists for just such an occasion.

Over the last 237 years, more than a million brave American men and women have fought and died for the US Constitution, our Representative Republic, freedom, liberty and justice for all. They did not die in vain.

The States can reassert proper constitutional balance of powers or the people will. It’s not a threat; it’s a prediction. Americans are the most peaceful and tolerant people on earth, until push becomes shove.

The clock is ticking… The States must act swiftly and decisively. Every patriotic American citizen must act as well, calling upon their state officials to take immediate measures to stop the runway Fed before we reach the point of no return.

I see stupid people.

Washington DC is full of stupid people. Not everyone in DC is stupid. Just a majority.

This evening, as I was leaving CPAC, a late model mini-van was in front of me and it has a bumper sticker on the back of it that said, “Healthcare for all, not for profit.”

That is liberalism for you. It is nothing more than a soundbite and a stupid soundbite at that.

Liberals hate profit, for reasons that simply cannot be explained except by a catastrophic failure of intelligence.

I would love to debate one of these liberals who think that profit, particularly in the healthcare industry is a bad thing. Let’s start with the medical personnel. Do Doctors go to med school to help the world? Possibly but a six figure income is also a strong inducement. Nurses go to nursing school to help people but also to make a good living. The same is true for technicians.

Let’s ask the same liberal, do you want the highest paid doctor working on you or the lowest paid? I want the highest paid, since our society rewards excellence with money. The guy who is the lowest paid is probably the worst doctor.

Speaking of which, suppose we took the profit motive out of medicine. Let’s cut the wages of doctors down to minimum wage. What kind of doctors would we end up with? Would you want that doctor working on you?

What about those great medicines we have? We have medicines today that 10 or 20 years ago did not exist and are considered miraculous today. Why? Because a pharmaceutical company took a risk, invested billions into a medicine and now makes a profit from that medicine.

What about those incredible medical devices we have now? Thirty years ago, an appendectomy meant a major abdominal incision. Now, most of the time it can be done with robotic tools. Why do we have them? Because companies can make a profit developing these tools and selling them.

Are liberals really that dumb?

In a word, yes.

Liberals want to give us a profit-less health care system.

Is that bad? Well let’s look at the kind of system liberals think we should have. In England, they have the National Health Service. People wait months for appointments. In some parts of Britain, people are forced to pull their own teeth because of a shortage of dentists. As a cost cutting measure, instead of washing sheets between patient use, the NHS is just going to turn the sheets inside out.

Perhaps the person driving that minivan should have had a hypocrisy bumper sticker next to their silly liberal healthcare bumper sticker.

Who knows what this person did. They probably worked for the government. What ever it is, do you think they worked because they get a good salary. Ooops, there is that evil profit again. This time it is personal profit.

Have you ever noticed all of these liberals who complain about profit, yet they enjoy the benefits of personal profit? Have you seen the “Occu-tards” with their designer clothes, their REI tents and sleeping bags, their IPhones, Ipads and laptops? Someone made money to pay for those items.


There is that evil profit word again.

Liberals love to spend other people’s money. They also hate profit. As long as it is other people’s profits they are railing against.

People like that are unfortunately, all over Washington DC.

Memo to Washington: Kick the spending habit – Jeff Jacoby – Townhall Conservative.

THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT reported last week that the national debt had surpassed $15 trillion, clocking in at precisely $15,033,607,255,920.32 as of the close of business Tuesday. Since President Obama’s inauguration in January 2009, the amount owed by the federal government to its lenders has soared more than $4.4 trillion, an increase of 41 percent in less than three years.

To put those figures in perspective, consider these:

When Bill Clinton was president, the national debt rose by an annual average of $193 billion. When the profligate George W. Bush was in the White House, the yearly debt increases averaged $612 billion. On Obama’s watch, by contrast, the federal debt has been skyrocketing by more than $1.5 trillion per year.

It took 40 presidents and nearly two centuries,from George Washington to Ronald Reagan, for the US government to accumulate $1.5 trillion in indebtedness. The 44th president — aided and abetted by Congress — enlarges the federal debt by that amount every 12 months.

Yet the political class has its knickers in a twist because the much-vaunted “supercommittee” has only until Thanksgiving to come up a plan for trimming the deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years.

Washington’s refusal to take spending reduction seriously amounts to an almost criminal abdication of its responsibilities to the taxpayers, and politicians of both parties share in the guilt. As a candidate for president in 2008, Barack Obama properly blasted what was then a $9 trillion national debt as “irresponsible” and “unpatriotic.” Just weeks after moving into the White House, he vowed that by the end of his first term he would cut the $1.3 trillion federal budget deficit in half.

“We cannot simply spend as we please and defer the consequences to the next budget, the next administration, or the next generation,” Obama told a White House summit on fiscal responsibility. “You don’t spend what you don’t have.”

But Washington continues not only to spend what it doesn’t have, but to do so at a record-setting pace. In the fiscal year that ended on September 30, the federal government burned through a staggering $3.6 trillion — “well above amounts recorded before 2009,” as the Congressional Budget Office dryly noted. The budget deficits of the past three years — $1.416 trillion (2009), $1.294 trillion (2010), and $1.298 trillion (2011) — have been the largest in American history, whether measured in dollars or as a percentage of GDP.

For all the hyperventilating in recent months about “draconian” cuts and “slashing spending” and the “brutal” scope of the automatic reductions that are supposed to take effect if the supercommittee doesn’t agree on a plan, the bottom line is unchanged: The federal budget, like the federal establishment it funds, is grotesquely overweight and getting fatter by the day. The frantic stimulus spendathon has done nothing to heal the economy, and it is ludicrous that anyone can speak of the government’s current “austerity” with a straight face. The deal that raised the federal debt ceiling last summer didn’t impose austerity on Washington’s budget-makers. It averted austerity.

Sequestration — the triggering of spending cuts if the supercommittee fails to come up with the required deficit trims — will barely slow the spending train. Between 2013 and 2021, the federal budget is expected to grow by another $1.7 trillion. And if the sequester trigger is pulled? By another $1.6 trillion. If that’s “brutal”, I’m Katy Perry.

Like any morbidly obese patient, the federal behemoth needs to go on a diet. Ultimately the only prescription for reducing the government’s parade of yearly deficits and mounting debt without suffocating economic growth is to cut spending. Politicians find that a frightening prospect, and special interests and pressure groups don’t hesitate to exploit their fear.

But kicking the out-of-control spending habit isn’t impossible. Other governments (and earlier administrations) have done it, and with excellent results. Under Prime Minister Jean Chretien in the 1990s, Canada slashed spending across the board, reduced its federal payroll by 45,000 jobs, and privatized the national railway and air-traffic-control system. The result, as Fred Barnes recently chronicled in National Affairs, was an economic rebound. A deficit of nearly $37 billion turned into a $3 billion surplus, and a national economy that had been growing at an anemic 1% kicked into overdrive, expanding by an annual average of 3.4% between 1994 and 2006.

The longer Washington avoids serious and permanent spending cuts, the higher the debt will climb and the more painful the ultimate reckoning will be. “We cannot simply spend as we please and defer the consequences,” the president said in 2009. It was true then. It’s even truer now.
